According to the lunar calendar, on August 16, 2008, there will be an eclipse during the full moon (in Aquarius). I'm pretty new to the Pagan life and have alot to learn (doesn't help that i'm studying on my own without a teacher). What significance does an eclipse have in any of the signs? Is magick performed during a lunar eclipse stronger/weaker?

I've never used the lunar eclipse, either, but on the full moon that will be pretty cool.  I could never find enough information about traditions on it, so, you could probably use your own symbolism.  Aoumiel in Green Witchcraft II; Balancing Light and Shadow suggests that it can be used for working with those of the Otherworld and the Sidhe.  For me, though, I might use it to work with my shadow self.  As an eclipse is a shadow, I imagine that it would be, for me, a powerful sympathetic symbol.  (I have a lot to work with... ).  I'm still not informed on this, either, so don't rely on my advice.

Lunar eclipses have always been special to me, ever since my father introduced me to the event when I was little.  He used to set up chairs and we'd watch the eclipse and eat cookie dough .
First and foremost, I use them to enjoy extended time outdoors at night, a great time to meditate and contemplate. Additionally, I've used lunar eclipses to make my own "eclipse water", leaving a dark bottle of distilled water out under the entire eclipse, used to bring balance to chaotic and overly emotional times in the monthly cycle (pms elixer lol), and to counter other instances where wild emotion begs for sobering logic and reason.

All this without a teacher (other than this website, which is the best teacher i've ever had ) because it's what it means to me.
