Get in your comfy spot, close your eyes and relax your body.
Imagine that you are walking along a forest path. The forest is brown and dry, like a forest after a fire, for there has been no rain here for a very long time. No birds sing. The air is hot and stifling. You wish you could find some relief to the sadness of the forest.
In your hands you are carrying a cup. The cup can be made of anything you wish; silver, gold, glass, whatever pleases your mind’s eye. There is a liquid in this cup that you have been very careful not to spill for a long time. It is regret. Your cup is filled with all the things that you wish you could have changed; memories of bad things that have happened to you; things that you may have done to others; people that you need to forgive or who need to forgive you. How big is your cup? Is it heavy? How often you have thought that it would be nice not to have to carry the cup of regret with you everywhere you go, but, for some reason, not having it with you just wouldn’t feel right, would it?
As you are walking along the path, you hear water in the distance. There is a stream up ahead. Walking up to the stream, you notice several large rocks lining the banks, and knowing how nice it would be to sit down with your burden, you sit on one. As you are relaxing, you see, upstream, a woman, also carrying a heavy cup, but instead of holding it closely to her, she has turned it upside down and is dumping all the contents into the stream. She looks at you and smiles and you notice a glow of happiness around her. You are engulfed in that glow and wonder what it would feel like to feel that. Setting her cup on a nearby rock, she walks away.
You realize that this is why you are here. This cup of regrets must go. Look into the cup and see your reflection. Is it sad? Say what needs to be said to those things in the cup. Shout them if you need to. Then tell them, “You are no longer worthy of me. I no longer need you and I release you.” However hard it may be, hold the cup over the stream of water, and turn it upside down, letting all those regrets, all the things that you have held onto for so long, blend into the water and flow away from you. They cannot come back as the stream only flows one way. As they drain from your cup, feel how light you are becoming. You can feel the glow beginning to envelope you, and just as you saw with the woman upstream, you have become surrounded by that glow of happiness. When your cup is empty, without a thought, simply place it on a rock and turn back to the path from which you came. Now you are lighter, not weighed down with anything. There is joy in your step as you walk along, and you look around you. Everything in the forest has changed. There has been a cleansing, miraculous rain in the forest. The tall trees whispering above you are full of the sound of twittering birds enjoying the new, clean air. Drops of fresh rainwater drip off the plants that line the path and tons of beautiful flowers have popped up everywhere. Now that your hands are empty, they are free to stroke the petals of the most beautiful flowers and feel the raindrops wet on your fingers. Touch the bark of the trees and feel their energy fill you with love. You are free now.
Count yourself back up from ten to one and open your eyes. Take a minute to adjust to your situation and feel how nice you feel. Don’t forget to ground yourself before you go about your day.
