Why is it that Christians feel the need to "save" everyone?

Because heaven is only for the Christians?  I get irritated at that, too.  The "only way" theory doesn't make any sense does it?  I don't think that God/dess is that exclusive that she is going to choose one group over the other and send the "other" 90 percent of the world to hell.  Why would we have been created in the first place only to be destroyed?  That makes "their" God out to be a racist bigot that hates HIS own creation.  Its really bad in these Southern states.  I've never met so many religious bigots in my life before I came here.  NOT EVEN in the Middle East!!!

Christian doctrine is less about the teachings of Jesus, than it is about a means of social control.  When there was only the "Holy Roman Empire" it was stilll simply Rome's political attemt to remain the center of political authority.  Not much has changed in 2008 years.  The center of Christiandon is still in Rome.  All the off shoots of the other Jesus centered religious traditins all stem from this one historical center.  Rome converted to retain it's political power.  Nothing more.  

History books are re-written, as well as doctrine, to reflect what they WANT people to see, believe and remember.  



My moto is that faith itself is a great expancive Mountain.  It matters not which path one takes to reach the summit as long as they continue upward.

I am just so traumatized....when they come in your home and do this, I feel violated. Home is my sacred space. The place I feel safe and secure.

I guess I am at a loss of words to describe what I felt when they did this yesterday.

I'm sorry they made you feel that way Lady E. They use to come to my house all the time. I was getting so tired of it. The last straw for me was when they came over while I was in the middle of cleaning my van. I don't have her anymore, a full size high top conversion van!! It took hours to clean it and here they come up the drive way. I listen for a bit but kept on washing, then one reach out and grabbed my arm, I guess they wanted my full attention, and they got it. I turnned around and told them flat out, to take themselves off my property or I'd remove them personally. I told them that I was Pagan, and had No need of thier word or saving. An that if they ever put one foot in my yard again, I'd feed them to my dogs. I could have handled it a bit better, but when that lady put her hand on me I lost my kool. I told them that they had better spread the word to their fellow members to never come to this house again. It's been quite sense then,

Now there are these 2 guys that always seem to be riding bikes and dressed nicely, they too would stop by. But I lost my kool with them as will. An that put a stop to them. It's a shame that being nice doesn't work. You have to be mean to get through to them. I really don't want to be mean but it's the only thing that works.


Makes me wonder just what their God is thinking about his flock. Most likely going for the pest control spray!!

Next time peek out the blinds first.  If it looks like some one spreading the word of Gawd then answer the door sky-clad save for a pentacle necklace   (As long as no part of you crosses the threshold you are in your house and well within the law.)

Once many many years ago when I had dark curley hair, I let a couple of Jehovah's Witness'es in, listened to them and sent them on their way. They came back, LOL, my room mate and girlfriend were there, when they asked for me they asked why, and what ever their answer was, they told them I was Jewish, you couldn't have slammed the door hard enough to hit them in the butt, LOL.

Last time I had someone come to my door to convert me, I let them know I am Jewish and began going into a lecture about how I thought Jesus was a great man, and that modern Christianity has turned into all the things he was trying to reform within ancient Judaism.

Being Jewish in the South is a funny thing--you are not as hated as Catholics in the South, but you are treated with a mixture of respect, fear, and prejudice.  I can see the process going on in their brains, "she said she is Jewish, which makes her one of G-d's ancient chosen people, which means she may have some esoteric ancient mystical powers, but we can't trust her because we blame her people for killing our Messiah."  And then, just as Sundown said, they run away.    

I guess they figure that if Jews didn't convert after a couple millennia of racism and violence under Christian rule, the chances of them converting me know are pretty slim.

i don't think this is a much of an issue up here in the north. i get visitors every once in a while, let them speak their peace, explain that it's not my spirituality, and thank them for sharing their message. they leave baffled. it's fun.

i did tell one onetime that i'm pagan, she ran, RAN, off my lawn. that was fun too.

the salesman who asked why i felt i didn't need a home security system was told "i don't like to be scared." when he asked what i use to protect my home, i considered telling him i draw pentagrams in sidewalk chalk instead, that keeps the threats at a distance. his own insecurity ran him off.

i'm a big fan of letting people talk themselves around in circles, but i've got the time to do this. i understand the only reason they're trying to spread their word is so they can further confirm and understand their own half-truths and propaganda taught to them by friends, family and community.

pity the insecure, and stand strong. and be thankful you don't have to go door-to-door everyday explaining why nature works the way it does
