Tehehehe
I love snail mail! I love getting it, I love sending it, I love that glowing phone call you get when someone you haven't heard from in a while just recieved a letter from you... I love sending out traditional christmas cards in December because it just seems so civilized... so... I don't know. And yes, I send "holiday cards, or festive cards" now, because I'm not christian, and neither are many of my friends, but I think it's a great excuse to send a bit of cheer to EVERYBODY you know the address of. Nearly everyone has SOME celebration in December. It makes you realize connections on a deeper level than I think instant emails can show you. I know that makes no sense, how can mail make you feel closer, when you can be in touch with them immediately... but I think it does!
This week I managed to burn through 10 whole stamps... and actually recieved 1 card in return. I always send out a lot more than I recieve, but each card I get is like a treasured jewel. Even post cards. or just a quick note penned on a scrap of paper and tucked in an envelope and sent on it's way.
I've started writing up my December cards already. Yep, the day after Samhain. Lame I know... it's not really the festive cheer that's got me yet, I think it's an overly commerciallized holiday anyways, I just was itching to send mail. And I think tomorrow I'm gonna send out my first parcels ever. I've never sent a package before, and for some unknown reason I'm like a kid in a candy store about it. One of my friends is living in thunderbay, has a wheat allergy, and is unable to find the gluten free products she's accustomed to down here. She's getting some cookies, bread mix, granola bars, and brownie mix... that kind of thing. Another friend lives in sudbury, and has an affinity for office supplies. we were grumbling in the summer that it's impossible to find a box of just green pens... well lo and behold, I found a box. She also loves anything and everything orange, and tea and hot chocolate of various kinds...
hehehe this is gonna be so much fun...
anyways, I was wondering if I'm alone in this strange obsession, or if anyone else enjoys using this wonderful oldfashioned system
maybe a new penpal? Never had one from the states before... muchless anywhere else outside of canada

I'm not crazy, it's just that I enjoy talking to the trees and singing to the moon...
)O(

) I have been not too very nice to a couple people, my Dad included, for only being a forwarder. I not so nicely told him, if her has time to sit and forward unwanted crap, but cannot once in a purple moon drop me a Hi luv how ya doin' line, don't bother hitting that forward button my direction or it will be returned to sender with a zinger attached!
He did ok for a spell, now it's time to zing and remind!

(I suppose that's why "poison pen" letters are called that, because they are sent with such negativity...avoid those.)
