Good day all,

I'm a devoted fan of the "Word to the Wise" forum and newsletters from Misty Eve. Today I was reading about 'reverence' and with it, worthiness - as in 'what do you believe you're worthy of', and the question was posed,
"How would you feel if someone offered to pay you a salary of $1 million/year?

to which I immediately answered, "damn skeptical". very, very skeptical, to the point that I would not accept a job that paid me that much, feeling that the reprocussions from such a job would have to leave a black mark on my soul. obviously, they're out to use me in a bad way, exploit me, leading to humiliation of some sort, and get away with only paying me a million dollars for it.

i get the feeling a genuine assessment of my self-worth is clouded by this chaotic knot of skepticism.
i ask the elders and mentors of this castle to help clear my vision about this, if you would.

thanks and be well,
realeyez

I may be approaching "elderly" but I'm no mentor.  It's hard to accept the abundance of the universe, isn't it?  Why shouldn't you have a great job and make a million a year.  It's easy for me to see you, RealEyez doing that, but hard for me to see me making a million a year (something surely evil would happen to me!)  Is it early religious training in my case?  Sunday school dogma about giving is more blessed than receiving that makes us feel guilty about gettng anything good?  Or is it just easier to doubt and reject rather than embrace and overcome?

"Is it early religious training in my case?" - in OUR cases...i think we come from similar backgrounds. i feel i'm in a place where my former path is mostly transformed into the one i walk now, but i suppose the residue it left in my belief system could use some examination. i've never been "rich" in money, so while growing up, "rich" in my family was associated with stigmas for weak family ties, materialism, and poor parenting.

i suppose the best questions merely spawn more questions, huh acasia?

"Or is it just easier to doubt and reject rather than embrace and overcome?" great question. that's probably the case. i have these questions too. this is the first time i've sincerely contemplated embracing a million dollars. anxiously awaiting the unveiling of these answers, i suppose they're not questions i've ever defined before. so, yes, new answers. new light.

patience and awareness...

cheers to you my friend. thanks for posting your thoughts, they further my own.

Have you taken the courses that Misty-Eve* teaches???

I have....she is phenomenal... The Druidic Craft of the Wise is a Path I truly feel is who I am.....

And yes in answer to your post....., I do beleive it is the way that our patriarchial society has taught us...but as we move toward a new existence, there is nothing you cannot achieve, and you deserve all things, the UNiverse has plenty to give, if you only know how to receive it....

be well...

oh Lady E, my babies and my business keep me busy. I'm fortunate to have a little time each day to paruse YOUR forum!

I have visited their site a couple times, and get caught up in the readings. I read and read until babies need mama. It's all very enlightening. Her classes may be in my future. I like that she recognizes the flexibility needed to guide each individual on each's own path. I can not seem to reconcile myself to join or even visit the local coven here, I've met members on an individual basis just drenched in gossip and negativity, the same ones doing readings for others at public events, it makes me cringe. I recognize Misty Eve's classes would be more the style to help this solitary reach out.

"know how to receive it". thanks, I'll have to read up on that  Laughing

I think we have difficulty assessing our worth because, in most societies, worth and value is arbitrarily placed.  Usually, if it is rare, it is deemed of value and desirable.  Ironically, the utility of the object or characteristic may not assist one in happiness, wisdom, or survival.  Therefore, we face the dilemma of whether  worth and value are arbitrary or if there are "things" of irrefutable and inalienable worth.

I think all religions are built around the search for inalienable value; and, indeed, a student of the occult does this as well.  We have many names for the wealth--God, Allah, Brahman, Truth, Compassion---but we do not understand the nature of it.

I can relate with you Real_Eyez with the scenario you mentioned, and would feel the same way.  What I try to remind myself is that it is highly unlikely that whatever thing of worth people think I lack or I doubt I possess, is actually not true Wealth.  It is what I perceive as valuable and is probably of little use outside of my current subjective reality.

Some days this logic is easier to believe than others, I have to admit.
