As someone who has become proficient in dream therapies, I am concerned about a nightmare that I had on 1 January...It should be noted that I am currently taking a slew of medications which include "nightmares" in their lists of possible side affects. I am adept at lucid dreaming.
Also too, I am a long time sufferer of hydrophobia, but in most cases. I am able to deal with it.
I was living in a coastal town (I used to live directly on the Chesapeake Bay, but this wasn't it - I don't think I've ever see this place, so it may not exist except in my dream) in a really nice neighborhood. One thing that I noticed, was that the home were directly on the ground and not stilted like they should have been...I suppose that this should have been my first clue, huh? I went for a walk on a bike path and came upon a creek where I found a really nice yacht on it's side, which had been abandoned. The creek was clear until the boat, then became rather muddy, with lots of movement. I called 911 and informed them of my discovery and went on my merry way.
We were having some sort of cook out as I think it was a holiday, like July 4th and I remember seeing that there were lots of people milling about (tourists, most likely). I waked to the back of the house, where there were some people fishing from the beach, complaining because the tide was coming in too fast. I looked to the sky and saw no sea birds, or any other birds, for that matter, nor was I was unable to find any of the local pet dogs, or cat anywhere either. I allowed the dream to continue, mostly out of curiosity...just to see how bad, bad was going to get. Call me a glutton for punishment, I guess...
The first wave came up to the back of the houses, and most of the people seemed to be oblivious to it. The second wave crashed into the houses (doors and windows held) and water then flowed around the houses, washing over some little kids, but they were unharmed after the fact. I was hanging on to a light post that was in my front yard, and because I was squicked at the sea weed rounding my knees, I went inside the front door of my house. The third wave was high and washed over some homes, while in the house that I was in, just covered my knees, as I was on a third-floor deck watching the waves come in. The force of the water almost knocked me off my feet and realizing that I was not going to escape the tidal activity, went inside. The fourth wave washed over the house and I looked to the ceiling and noted that water was in the attic was was beginning to seep through. I saw people and cars (and other sings of civilization) being washed away I looked out the sliding glass door and saw a huge tidal wave at least a hundred feet in height rushing toward the coast line. What I wanted to do was to go back outside and yell at the water to stop, that we didn't want to be killed and that yes, we *get* it....just please stop! However, some man, my father (who has been deceased for 20 years) or a father-figure, refused to allow me to go outside.
It was then that I decided that I'd had enough and woke up. I am aware of the emotional aspect of water dreams and when I find myself in a state of flux, the water dreams usually manifest during sleep.
What do y'all think?
