If you are 30 or older you will think this is hilarious!!!!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were.

When they were growing up; what with walking Twenty-five miles to school every morning

Uphill...barefoot.... BOTH ways

Yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up,

There was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on

kids about how hard I had it

And how easy they've got it!

But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of Thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.

You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my

Childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!

And I hate to say it but you kids today you

Don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, We had to go to the damn library and

Look it up ourselves, in the card catalogue!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write Somebody a letter, with a pen!

Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3 or Napsters! You wanted to Steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself!

Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ usually talk over the beginning and frig it all up!

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's

it!

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either!

When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your Bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games

Like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You

actually had to use your Imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or Screens, it was just one screen

Forever!

And you could never win. The game just kept getting

Harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

You had to use a Little book called a TV Guide to find out what was

On! You were screwed when it Came to channel surfing! You had to get off

Your ass and walk over to the TV to change the Channel and there was no

Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons

On Saturday Morning. Do you Hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled

Little rat-bastards!

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove ... Imagine that!

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!

Regards,

*The over 30 Crowd*

Indeshadows,

Absolutely correct.  That was friggin' hilarious.

Th onlything I would add was the idea of an analog clock...with the hour and minute hands.  My ex-sister-in-law (now 21) had no clue what the driver's ed instructor meant by putting her hands on the wheel in the 10 and 2 positions.

Laughing  Well...now that I'm part of the over 40 crowd, I find this completely appropriate.  My students don't even know what a record is!

And when we took a picture, we had to take the film to the camera place, wait usually 3 days to get out pictures back! You didn't just snapp, upload, and print!

You wanted someone else to have pictures, then you broke out the envelopes, pens, paper, and them little  things called stamps that you had to lick and stick and mailed the durn things and hoped like hell the mailroom machines didn't get it all snagged up and they got them in a little plastic envelope with a sticky label apology about being sorry your item got mangled by their assanine machinery.  Evil or Very Mad

Oh yeah and those were the days when the womens room didn't have one single funky ringtone going off because some poor woman couldn't even take a piss in peace!!!

Yeah, imagine that, if you wanted to call someone, you had to either use a pay phone,or WAIT until you got home to call them!!!

You need to go someplace you used a map to figure out where you were in relation to where in the sam hill you were supposed to be, only to find out SOMEONE had the dang thing upside down and you aren't even anywhere near South Dakota, you instead are somplace in the middle of Arkansas! Yeah, imagine that no Tom-Tom, GPS locator with street by street turns, and oh NO MAPQUEST! Laughing Just a wild quest with a map, lol.

Yes, the cartoons were MUCH better.

I can do you one better, Seamonster. Ten years ago, a friend was giving a lift to a college student on November 22nd and mentioned that it was the anniversary of the assination of President Kennedy. The student looked at him and asked, What was he president of?"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blessings,

TT, that's even better than my young foreign husband thinking that Bruce Springsteen was a martial arts actor. Laughing

Laughing  Thanks for giving me a chuckle after a long hard day.   Laughing

My kids were watching the Superbowl with me and didn't know who Bruce Springsteen was!  My daughter referred to him as "Grandpa Rocker".   Laughing  Oh well..........

LMAO!!!  I'm 20 and I still get that "in my day" speech from both of my parents. Luckily I know who President Kennedy is but, to humiliate myself, I've never heard of Bruce Springsteen   3322)) I do agree that todays cartoons are bogus, with a few exceptions, and that Loony Tunes were (and ARE) muuuch better!

I'm 21 and I remember some of that stuff though.. I remember when plain old playstation was coming out, the graphics were horrible. And our first computer had 20 or 40 Gb hard drive.. My baby now has 120Gb and that's small compared to other standard comps that have twice that..

I have to agree with the cartoon statement.. There's only so many gas jokes one can laugh at before losing all dignity.. I remember watching Gargoyles. That was a freakin' awesome cartoon.. Cartoons had a moral or story behind them, they weren't there just for entertainment. Batman was another one I watched.. Then they got all anime-ified.. Can't stand the sharp angles and the eyes that take up most of the characters face, now days.

Tho I don't know how to use a card catalogue, I have repeatedly waited by the radio for songs to play so I could record them on tape.. I do the same thing now, but instead of recording them, I find out the name and Download them..
