Your Life
by Carolyn F.
Maddy was a party girl most of her life, and a pack a day smoker, although she never really was much of a drinker. She has always been a social butterfly who loves to be with people. She has a great sense of humor, and she writes spiritual books for a living, which keeps her imagination flowing all the time.
Today was the day Maddy chose to leave her earthbound life, although she was having a bit of difficulty in crossing over, it was taking some time. Maddy has been wearing a face mask for the last 10 years in order to breathe, the mask comes with oxygen on wheels that she carted everywhere. Her friends decorated the tank to look like a cigarette. This was the day she chose to take off the mask. The Emphysema was finally taking her to the other realm.
Although hospice was serving up some pretty hefty doses of Morphine by now to help with her pain, Maddy was still able to let all of her friends surrounding her know what she was seeing on the other side as she crossed. She'd made a pact with them that she would explain what she was seeing as she dies, almost like a journalist, but in this case it was the most powerful story she would ever share. Because she would eventually have a hard time talking, they created a morse code type of language so she could explain everything she was seeing as she crossed.
The language they created together involved her fingers tapping against a legal sized metal plate which rested on her chest, the metal reverberated the sound so that everyone could hear what she was expressing. She tapped sentences as clear as a bell. Her friends became expert readers of this sound language, and Maddy became an expert at expressing her inner-world experiences without having to talk.
Maddy was now seeing her father and mother who had passed when she was a teen. Both were inviting her to the light with motioning hands, they looked happy, kind, and inviting. She could even hear them calling her name. They stood in a bluish sky light with a sphere of white light showing like a tunnel vortex behind them. But Maddy stood still at the front of the tunnel area, not quite ready to go because she wanted to give a full story to her friends.
Her Agonal breathing, about four short breaths a minute, were still not enough to slow her intentions of letting her friends know what was happening. Her finger expressions were one after another. She spoke of an angel who was there to take her when she was ready to die. She was also telling her friends she'd try to contact them after she crossed.
Her friends who surrounded her, asked questions about the light or whether she saw anyone they knew, and Maddy looked around for them to quickly answer their questions. Her Agonal breathing lasted for three hours, until finally her explanations became more arduous as the sound of the death rattle took the place of her short breaths. In the last moments of her life she spoke, "you'll love this place, see you later." The gurgling in her throat remained for several minutes, even after her friends saw her light rise above her body and leave through the sky lit window.
When Maddy finally let go, she found herself standing in a sea of white clouds, angels were everywhere, and she was hugging her mother and father for the first time in forty years. They had wings, and so did she! Up ahead there was a festival happening. Angels were manning booths with unusual glowing items, she couldn't quite tell their purposes, they were beautiful items, and everything was free.
There was a particular gaming booth she stood in front of, this one looked like a time machine. This is where she could call her friends and speak with them! It looked similar to an old fashioned phone booth, except as she dialed in the names of the friends she wanted to contact, all of their images appeared on what looked like a movie screen.
They were all dressed in white at the cemetery, it was her funeral! "At least they wore the white like I requested, but they look so sad," Maddy thought to herself. She finally read the instructions on how she could be heard or seen. She decided to send a morse code message to everyone. She tapped into the speaker phone, what she was experiencing at this festival in the clouds. As she did, everyone looked up to the sky as they stood around her coffin. It was as clear as day; they all heard her, and were all taking note of what she had to say. As she continued expressing her love for everyone, her friends began to dance around the coffin together. Clearly they knew there was life after death. She wasn't quite finished expressing, when she was automatically relocated to the Pearly Gates. She stood there in front of St. Peter who spoke to her about why re-incarnation is important for each soul who hasn't quite understood how to live well. Maddy did not understand, why did he think she did not live well? "You did not take care of your earthly body, by smoking for all of those years," St. Peter reminded her that she knew cigarettes were not good for her body. He could hear her thoughts without having to speak.
Over his shoulder, she was watching beyond the Pearly Gates, three of her friends who she'd known years ago, were coming to greet her. She didn't want to be rude, so she gave her attention back to St. Peter. She realized she was standing at the top of a very long soft white cloud slide. He said," I have a list of choices for your new family, if you choose to go, this slide will take you though a birth canal universe, and you'll land in the womb of your new mother."
"If I choose to go?" Without even reading the list, she psychically knew every name and circumstance on it, one of the family names was highlighted in her mind.
Bing. Someone else appeared right next to her, and this guy was a little gruff looking, his name seemed to be Rocky. Rocky was complaining about wanting to stay at the festival, both hands were filled with the iridescent free items. St. Peter willed the list and his speech into his mind, then gave him a little push down the slide. The guy screamed so loudly that, Maddy continued hearing him even when he was no longer in sight.
Maddy looked back at her beautiful wings, then she looked down the very long slide, and without much hesitation, she asked if she could stay in heaven just a while longer before she joined up with this new family. St. Peter stepped aside, and the Pearly Gates opened. She spent the afternoon flying with her friends and sharing everything about her last life. What was very cool, is she also remembered other lives too, and because of that she realized why she became a smoker in her last life. It was because she had "taken the breath away" from people who were not properly convicted of crimes. It was becoming clear that she needed to keep her wings in her next life, and be the best person she could ever hope to be.
Maddy visited the time machine daily to talk to her friends from her last life. Although daily in heaven, was more like six months in an earthly physical form. Her friends were doing well. And, because of her wonderful story, they all lived life to their fullest with kindness, love, care, and belief in a life after death.
