"Found" Objects and the Divine

Have you ever felt as if an object has "found you" through some
kind of-divine twist of fate? I'm not saying the Gods made sure a
vase was at some place at some time to ensure that you and only
you could find it; more like you happen to be at the right place
at the right time to receive something that is useful/helpful to
you in a religious or magical way?

Maybe it was a walk in the woods or a visit to an antique shop?
Where were you when you came across your find?

How have you used the object since you're found it? Did you feel
any kind of cleansing or dedication ritual was necessary for the
object?

If you cant explain it simply, you dont understand it well enough.-- Albert Einstein

I pick up all kinds of sticks and rocks on hikes, and make note of symbols I find on solitary walks that often translate to runes and the like, but the protection amulet I sought info for when I first started chatting around the castle is with me for the 2nd time. It reached me through my love from a friend who received it from a friend. Before it reached me I'm sure it had been through some twisted and powerful other-realmly journies through the (mundane) forests I like to twistedly travel in myself. It made it to my love before I met him with the hope that it would reach whoever it was right for, and shortly after adopting my path by climbing out of my obliterated foundation, it was given to me. It was my most spiritually significant piece, and it stayed with me until things got crazy, and I had lost track of it after moving hundreds of miles away - twice. I knew it was missing, and was panicked and saddened over it often.

When we returned back to our starting point over 2 years later, it was found, I don't remember where, but I do remember that I cried. I had never lost my faith in my path, but after two years of starting off solo, I sure welcomed the reassurance that I was where I needed to be, had done what was needed to be done, and had been through the trials that were made for me.  A sincere companion had come back to me, and it was a reunion that definately made me feel a sense of 'wholeness' again.

It protects my home now, and accompanies me on special occasions.

Thank you for this topic - it was nice to reminisce in this very special memory and to be reminded of this very powerful companion I have...especially in our decan of friendship and my quest to alleviate feelings of lonliness. Thank you.

You know, I have been growing increasingly aware of the significance of finding "lost" things, whether they be lost to my own life, family heritage, or larger sections of humanity. Lady E you must be sharing a similar growing awareness for this??

Even Tinkerbell in her new movie declares we need to find "lost things". is this a new tool emerging in the collective unconscious? Or maybe just to my mind, I'm sure the great discovers of the past could tell me the importance of lost things. Either way, I'm getting a pretty clear signal - definately time to sit up and take notice.

Interesting topic....a bit off track *but* I have felt not so much that an object found me....but rather a place.   Hub and I had decided to take the kids out for a Sunday drive to stop them from climbing the walls so to speak.  And off the top of my head, I have forgotten where it was...will harrass him to refresh my brain when he gets back but....it was on the coast, and we had pulled up to walk along a track and down to near an old light house.  Hub and the kids had begun their walk back towards the car, but I felt a pull to walk back and around near the light house.  It was a windy day, and I stood there, eyes closed just feeling the breeze...and I am not entirely sure of the best way to word it , but...the best way to describe it is a voice coming to me on the wind.  It felt as though the land itself was speaking to me, and even though the voice was kind, the message was not so much.  The voice was male and was telling me that the white man did not belong on this land, *bare in mind, Im in Australia* that the white man had hurt the land and was killing it.  There was much sorrow in the voice, and pain.  I found myself crying to listen to it.  It took me sometime to walk back to the car, for despite the message, I still felt I was supposed to be there if that makes any sense at all  Shocked

Like I said, perhaps a little of track sorry  Embarassed  this post just reminded me of that.

For me, it was my wand.  I had taken the Mutt down to the pool at the "other" apt. and was sitting in a chair when I happened to glance a pine branch that had been knocked out of one of the trees in the wind.  I picked it up and it gave me a definite "zing".  As I peeled a little of the bark off, it just felt like something that would be important on my altar.  Of course, there was no doubt in my mind that it would be my wand.  So, I peeled off the bark, let it dry for a few days and then sanded it down carefully with a fingernail file (that's all I had).  I researched exactly which runes would be useful for my situation and carved them in with a kitchen knife (as I don't have an athame).  Then I oiled it and let it dry for a few more days.  I put few more doolies on it and colored the runes in green.  It is the most magickal item on my altar.  When I am truly "in the groove", I can actually see the blue light shooting from the tip.  Didn't cost me a thing, just landed at my feet, so to speak.  It would be hard for me to replace it.

I should add that I didn't feel a need to cleanse the wand, only the need to consecrate it for my work. Smile

What a great topic!   Smile

I really appreciated all of the stories shared on here.  They were full of magic and knowings...awesome!

Realeyez, your story with your amulet and your journey was beautiful!  What a strong and magical connection that is.

I am also feeling the lost things.  It is interesting.  I do think it has to do with the new consciousness.  To me it is like another layer in expanded consciousness...bringing back certain things that we will learn all about perhaps on a whole other layer.  I was thinking that they maybe could be triggers to help us connect to memories or knowings that are still buried within us all.  I have been looking for a lost thing for about 3 days now...it came to me in altered awareness and now I must find it.  It won't leave my mind, so strange, this hasn't happened to me before.  But it is definately time to sit up and take notice!

Akina, your story of the wind was amazing!  I was right there feeling it!  Very awesome, thank you so much for that.

Seamonster, I love your sharing because that is the most similar to what I have experienced.  It sounds beautiful!

My first experience was when I was travelling through the mountains and I was starting to feel the energies of the different trees.  I had gone up the side of this mountain and got out of the car and started walking in the wild there.  I came across this most amazing tree!  It was a Ponderosa pine and was almost as wide as my car!  It was in a meadow like clearing and so the sun was shining and I just stayed there with the tree.  I fell in love with her.  I left my quartz that I always carried with me at the time there in her roots, thanked her deeply and expressed my love and honor for her, then turned to leave.  As I was walking away I heard something falling from above my head, I stopped and looked up and this pinecone landed right in front of me.  When I picked it up I realized that it was 3 pinecones growing out of the same base!  I really felt strongly that this was a gift from her to me.  Those pinecones had a place on my altar for about 10 years.  Always there in the center.  I would hold them sometimes to connect to the tree.  With my crazy moving around I am sad to say that I have lost them in the suffle, as well as other items.  Thank you for bringing that memory back with this question.  I did not cleanse or consecrate them.

Aleea, that is beautiful.  I adore the energy of trees, though I must admit I am partial to the birch.  I have the honour of having two stunning birch trees in my backyard, and as odd as it may sound...I wil miss their presence and energy greatly when we eventually sell and move.
