Rainbow City!
by Carolyn F.
Once upon a time, in a place called "Rainbow City," thousands of rainbows stretch throughout the day sky, leaving just a few peeks of the brilliant blue sky background. When the sky falls to night, the rainbows brighten themselves by the moonlight and shine through to the next morning. The arcs of color don't need rain, they are filled with tears of happiness from heaven.
Rainbow City is where people from all walks of life-forms visit. The rainbows grant wishes, and help heal those who are under the weather. The city itself is filled with natural springs. Animated holographic ads are lit onto every high rise in the city. All of these colorful ads are about staying healthy. Food is organic, delicious, and free, delivered to each visitor the moment they are hungry, and not until then.
There are two requirements to remain in the city. 1. Must only speak kindly; be entirely loving. 2. Must not exceed an 8 day stay; may return after 8 days. The shopkeepers even have to go back to their homes and leave others to tend to their storefronts, to mind these golden rules. In all of Rainbow City history, no one has ever broken the rules, it's a highly respected area.
Rainbow City's transit system includes private cars that lift each individual to the center of the rainbow, of their choice. There are plenty of rainbows, and space is not an issue, well over a million travelers a day visit these colorful realms.
It was Lynn's first visit, she'd been needing a little extra energy lately. She'd just arrived at her luxury hotel filled with moving sculptures and waterfalls in the lobby. An orchestra was playing music of the galaxy, it mixed well with the sound of the falling water.
"Welcome, Lynn," said the hotel attendant, Herrilit. Herrilit, a fairie, who loves his work and loves other beings even more, is also a professional psychic back at home. With a smile, he handed Lynn the Golden Rules embroidered onto a rich blue iridescent silk robe, a tour book, transit schedule, and a key to the penthouse.
"Thanks, what a beautiful place this is, I've heard so much about Rainbow City. Is there a lounge where I might be able to meet other visitors?" Lynn inquired.
Herrilit snapped his fingers and her luggage was transported to her penthouse. "Right this way, I'll take you there." Although it was daytime, the massive circular lounge was filled with millions of holographic night stars for a ceiling, appearing as if they are real. The waning full earth moon was even shining brightly offering just enough light for the lounge area. A huge assortment of beings were chatting, laughing, and sharing stories with each other.
Reginold, a lightening bug, with the ability to speak all languages was immediately attracted to Lynn. He flew over and asked her to join him. He told her all about his experiences in the rainbows, all about his life on Darta, and he showed her pictures of his family, they flashed like a movie screen in each of his eyes.
Lynn shared about her life on earth, why she was visiting, and she showed Reginold photos of her family back on earth. Her photos were all carried on her wrist, a watch that was also a photo album.
Lynn and Reginold talked for hours, until they knew it was time to retire for a full rainbow day experience beginning early in the morning. Lynn took the elevator to the top floor, she was elated to see her spectacular pad had a 360 degree view of the night-time rainbows. They were awaiting her visit, she knew this from the bottom of her heart. Her room, also round, was all done in white. Her bed was made of soft feathers tucked into an Egyptian Cotton covering. She slept well.
When she woke, she saw the rainbows moving slowly back and forth, in time to the slight easy warm breeze. It was time for her visit! She threw on her robe; the hotel slippers left for her were perfect in size, fit, and color match. Lynn was first in line for the 6am transit. It looked very much like a ski lift, but instead it moved vertically toward the sky. She stood, looking up to the incoming chair lift, her feet were on the pad exactly where they should be.
The chair lift closed around her and she took a seat on the soft pad. The inner-space of the chair lift had reflective coating all around; a mirror, even on her soft seat. "Which rainbow would you like to visit?" the voice asked from her private chair speaker. Lynn looked around for the one she had already decided to visit. Finally, she spotted it. "I'd like that one right over there please," as she pointed out a rainbow with an arc slightly more bent than the others.
How can these rainbows fill with so many visitors a day? Well, as soon as Lynn arrived at the center of her chosen rainbow, she knew. She became the essence of the rainbow. She knew she was sitting in the chair, but she could no longer even feel the cushion. The chair had also become the rainbow. She also realized she could float and stretch her rainbow energy body, with no pressure from gravity. She was feeling heavenly, a peace she'd never thought was possible.
Wishes? Halfway through the day while floating, she remembered she could make wishes. Lynn had memorized a list of wishes to make for every friend she had back on earth. Finally for herself, she asked, "I wish to always feel heaven like this; but to bring this energy with me into my physical body to enjoy it through my life." Just as she finished her wish, she floated back into a seated position. She could feel the seat under her again. The transit was returning her back down to the City. Lynn was hungry, and she couldn't be served while floating in the rainbows.
As she stepped out of the transit car, she knew she had made the right wish. Her body felt ecstatic, she cried from happiness. An avocado appeared in her left hand, a spoon in her right, the avocado was sliced just as she wished. Her remaining six days were as awesome as the first two days, she left with an address book filled with the names and contact information of over twenty new friends.
When she got back to her family and friends, they all could see the glow in her eyes, her energy was strong, purposeful, and brilliant. Because of the energy she exuded, she was able to give to them the same ecstasy experience through osmosis. Lynn, her friends, and family all lived a happy long life.
