Spring Time Liberation!
Written by Misty-Eve
Thursday, 19 March 2009

Are you feeling the wonderful exhilaration of the refreshingly cool Spring-time breezes?  Opening windows makes me feel like it’s time for Spring cleaning.  The temperature has been warm and itt feels good to be outside exploring the hills and taking pictures of the flowering trees and babbling creeks and rivers.  Not only is Spring bursting forth in new flowers, it's also energizing me to get my garden in the ground!

Our minds, bodies and lives are impacted by the seasons. We feel more healthy and alive during the spring and summer with the return of vegetation and the healthful benefits of the sun. During the isolation of winter, especially when it seems like the spring will never return, many people experience “cabin fever" or Seasonal Affective Disorder :(SAD) … and some of us experience a vitamin deficiency due to lack of sun light … welcoming the sun back in to our lives is just that … a welcoming ritual. We know with the return of the sun we will taste fresh, ripe fruits and vegetables again. We know we will be able to leave the house and enjoy the fresh air of spring. Spring house cleaning has it origins in pagan ritual .

The celebration the of Spring Equinox, March 20th, is about reconnecting to one's self first, then to those around us, and especially to the Earth. It’s a celebration of life, realizing the hope that will come in the Spring when the sun triumphs over darkness.  Birds and flowers emerge, and the mating of all life begins as life renews itself in the joyful anticipation of summer growth.  Our attention is drawn to the art of living and feeling alive and not simply moving through the motions.

Everything begins anew in the Spring.  New plans develop.  New ideas come forth.  New desires surface.

Spring time, then, is the time to celebrate Life and Life Force!

The energy from the Sun shines upon the Earth and Mother Earth comes alive with living growing things.  Were it not for this delicate dance of both Father Sun and Mother Earth, there would be no life on this planet.

Because of our need for this life-giving force, it feels better in the country where there is more plant life and fewer humans.  It is also possible to absorb life force from the trees and grass by being near them or sitting under them.  Trees, being out in the open sunlight every day, all day, usually have an abundance of life force.  Doesn’t it feel good to sit in the park?

Other ways of getting more of this life force come from eating living plants, seeds and sprouts.

It is this same energy that helps to energize our magical practice.  Who do you think would be the stronger magician… the weak, sickly person or the strong, healthy person?

What makes you feel alive?

Do you reconnect to Mother Earth when you’re digging in the garden?  Do you feel more connected to life when you’re taking a walk, noticing the flocks of birds returning, or seeing a bunny hopping about the yard?

In this life force is the vibrant power of health and well-being.  As we approach the Spring Equinox it’s time to appreciate the returning life and life force and find ways to draw it into ourselves to power our magic.

How often do you get outside in the sunshine?

Do you take walks in the woods or the park?  Do you spend some time around growing things, or do you spend your days inside an office or house?  Where do you think you would find more of this magical life force?

Do you think that feeling good and thinking about good feeling things stimulates more of this magical gift?

How Liberated is YOUR thinking?

It’s worth thinking about…

LIBERATION
~ Marianne Williamson

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’
Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.  And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.  As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

~ Excerpted from "A Return To Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles"
by Marianne Williamson

LIBERATION: QUOTES OF THE DAY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“The only shortcut on the path to liberation is to cut short our ego-manifestation. When we stop our ego from asserting, when we stop expressing our ego, when we stop looking for attention and recognition, when we stop feeding into our images and mental hallucinations, then we begin to find our way back to our Source.
“When we stop superimposing our ideas of reality, of spirituality, of religion, and life, then we become alive to the life force (the spirit) within the temple of the body and mind. We behold with our mind's eye the reflection of the Supreme Self within our own conscience. This brings about a transformation in our consciousness, and we become acutely conscientious about our thoughts and behavior. We no longer take life for granted, instead, we become very grateful for the Wisdom that flows to us from all directions.”
~ Source unknown
"Got to get back to the land and set my soul free."
~ Joni Mitchell / CS&N, Woodstock
"The true value of a human being can be found in the degree to which he has attained liberation from the self."
~ Albert Einstein (1879-1955) German born American physicist who developed the theories of relativity, and received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921.
BEING TRULY FREE
Letting Go
There is tremendous freedom in letting go. It is liberation to free ourselves of things that clutter our lives; too many possessions, useless emotions, unhealthy habits, old beliefs, even people that drain our energy. All of these things and more can weigh us down. Every once in awhile it's good to "clean out our closets" literally and figuratively.
Like pruning dead branches or like a snake shedding an old skin, we need to let go of the what no longer serves or what no longer fits, so that there is room for something new, alive, and what is needed at this time in our lives. Yet, we are a possessive society. We often hold on to things, feelings, and relationships out of habit or, many times, out of fear of being without. For so much of learning to let go is about learning to trust. We have to be able to trust that, indeed, new branches will grow, that there is a new skin under the old one. And yet, to the degree that we are willing to let go, we are able to receive. When we stop holding on and clinging to anything, we realize we have everything.
For in reality, we really own nothing. Certainly, we don't own people. Our spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, children are not really "ours." Even if we own the title to our house or car, such possessions can be gone in a moment, taken by a natural disaster, an accident, or financial circumstances. Native Americans could not grasp the European concept of "owning" land, anymore than one can own the sky. For everything belongs to the universe, as even we do. When we allow ourselves to rethink our sense of "ownership," it is easier to let go. We no longer need to feel burdened by the responsibility of having to hold on to something. Rethink the value of a prized book collection, a coveted job, and feelings for an old flame. Perhaps it isn't necessary to physically get rid of something, but letting go of the power that a person, ideology, or material object possesses is truly freeing.
PISCES: “I BELIEVE”
3rd Influence: "LIBERATION"
March 11th - March 20th
Liberation is a great need for the natives of this birth sign. Piscean people are given to bondage of various forms: physical, mental, and operational. We see this in the glyph of Pisces in the cord that binds two fish together. This symbolizes the need for Piscean people to liberate themselves from the bonds that they themselves have forged. It also reflects the need for all of us, as people living in a world largely formed of the bondage values of the Piscean Age, to liberate ourselves from the shackles of archaic cultural restraints. Let us consider then, in this decan of Pisces, all the things that serve to keep people in bondage. Let us all look within ourselves to find the means of seeking the freedom that we must have in order to develop from the Piscean Larvae to the Aquarian Butterfly.
Consider the things that shackle our bodies and prevent us from freely using them as a useful medium to enable us to move upward. We should consider too, the mental cages in which we allow ourselves to be locked, the iron masks of ideas which prevent our minds from becoming liberated and soaring into the realms of the mental world where true reality is found, and where our minds run free.
We must consider the operational harnesses which ourselves and others may have buckled upon us. These things prevent us from functioning freely. We must be free. Free from all things that prevent our freedom of thought and action.
Let us consider all these things that keep ourselves and others in bondage. Then let us unite together in compassion and kindness, and work actively together to free ourselves and others from these cultural bonds.
