Thanks to all for your kind words regarding my creations. To answer a couple of questions: the necklace/amulet is actually my very first attempt at carving. I actually carved 3 identical amulets out of ebony (1 for each of my daughters and 1 for my wife). Each also has the word BELIEVE ingraved on the back of the amulet. The other item is a staff I made (I was actually inspired while watching Lord of the Rings ). I actually spend a lot of time in the woods and will sometimes come across a piece of wood that just seems to almost "call" to me. When that happens, it will end up in my truck. It may be months before I make something with it because I feel obligated to do my best to honor the spirit within that wood. I may make several different sketches on paper before I even take a pencil and make a mark on the wood. I want to get it right the first time because i would feel awful if I messed it up and ended up having to discard that piece of wood. I also enjoy making wands (I currently have 2: one rather plain made from ebony, the other is made from aspen and actually looks like a cobra with green Swarovski crystals for eyes and a clear Swarovski crystal on the tip). Thanks again for all of your compliments. And I have to send a very special thanks to has to go to Sundown for posting the pics for me- thank you so much.

Looks like we have some VERY talented woodworking folks here....thank you Sundown for posting the pics....as usual your wisdom and talent show through...
Draco, can't wait to see more of your work as well....
I believe you and Sundown could have a very long-lasting firendship developing over this magickal craft.

Thank you Lady Elaine. I hope I don't become a pain to you Sundown asking you to post the pics for me. Like I said, I'm ok with wood, keyboards and computers are another matter all together I'm hoping one day to actually be able to do all that for myself. Although I have to say its nice being able to communicate with other people who share the same beliefs. (yes, I'm still in the broom closet- so to speak) My family is Christian, parents are Catholic, and I don't think any of them have any idea of my chosen path (although my older daughter "may" have some idea of my ideoligical differences with the Christian faith). Well, I've gone on enough about that. As I create more items for viewing I'll try to get pics of them posted.
I appreciate the vote of confidence in my abilities (with wood that is. My computer skills are seriously lacking ). One thing I wish I was alot better at is tree identification. I usually try to match whatever I make to the inherent properties of that specific wood species. I also try to match the wood to the qualities and personality of the person I am making that object for. I'll eventually go get a book (with lots of pictures) to assist me in this. I've been wanting to do that for quite some time. Unfortunately, I've got procrastination down to an art form .
Check your states Agriculture Dept or Forestery Dept, lots of them have fair publications on local trees you can download. I lack in that dept also, but do know many of the local trees, but lots I can't readily identify, lol.
