Take the Initiative: Begin!

Here we are standing on the threshold of spring and there's beauty everywhere. Since the flood, the grass and trees and flowers are just bursting with life. Everywhere we look there is evidence of the urgency of life seeking the light of day and the sunshine that brings about growth.
This year, I can certainly give thanks for the cool mornings and warm afternoons; for longer sunny days; for the beauty blooming in the forest; for the rain that falls upon my freshly planted garden.
We, too, can soak up the celestial gifts from the rain and sunlight. One way to receive the whispers of the Celestial that comes to us in the Sun's light is by facing the morning sun with outstretched arms and inhale a deep breath of this life-giving light. Then exhale as you bend over (as if you were doing a toe-touching exercise). Doing this simple exercise about 10 times every morning as the new light shines upon the earth allows you to soak up the life-giving force that is contained within each ray of sunlight.
As you do this, remember your connection to this life-giving Source of All-That-Is. We are children of God, gods in the making, growing into the likeness of our celestial Parents to one day become magical creators in our own right.
This always helps me to remember I AM that which I AM.

TAKING THE INITIATIVE
The cool thing about taking initiative is that good things start to happen, but sometimes, the good things aren't what you intended. My own story is instructive here:
I quit a high-potential position in the executive search industry to start my own e-recruitment venture. I had a plan. I had a vision. And I took a big risk to make it happen. Along the way, Monster.com offered to buy us out. Going to work for someone else was certainly not part of our business plan. In the end, however, I did join Monster because the opportunity was huge! A different outcome than I intended, and one that would never have occurred if I hadn't taken the initial step.
When you create your own opportunities, the path you take is more often than not, a winding one. If you can deal with that, then you have the opportunity to shape your own destiny.

BEING VS. DOING:
How Much Effort Do You Need To Give?
"Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you love to do, in order to have what you want."

"The formula for success is first Be, then Do, then Have. If our material abundance reflects the quality of our BEING, then how much do we focus on our DOING?
As with everything in life, it's a matter of balance. Feeling abundant on its own will not meet our needs. As James Allen said, "Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."
I have found there's a very different quality to my action when it springs from my sense of abundance as opposed to poverty consciousness. When I sense I don't have enough, I feel driven to be better and to have more. Whatever I do takes effort which I hope will bring me satisfaction in the future. (It doesn't, of course. Satisfaction can only be experienced in the present.) When I'm feeling abundant right now, I act out of my own inspiration to serve and to become more. And this action at times feels almost effortless.

RULER of ARIES: MARS, The PLANET of ACTION
Mars, with his penchant for action and for doing, is what gives Aries people all their will power. The command of Mars is, "Do It Now!" He tells us that if you want to be happy, you need to get happy now. Those who are Aware know that all Real Life exists only in the present. This is to say that Life is right now, and DOING IT NOW is the happy way to live. You may have been happy before but that moment is gone. You can't be happy in the future, for the future is not here yet. The only time to be happy is the only time in which you can possibly be -- NOW. Make up your mind to simply "DO IT NOW" and be happy doing it. Then Mars will smile upon you, and you will have gotten His message.

Without initiative, nothing begins. Initiative is the ability to start, to begin - and then to push it through. In Magic, an initiation is necessary for success in achieving the goals we set. INITIATIVE demands ACTION. Let us say to ourselves, as Aries begins, "Let us start". We then need to keep the initiative going. See every action through to its conclusion on anything you begin.
