Hye all my son wanted me to go here and get your opinions about a new bill that is about to be or trying to be passed in Idaho. here is the website to get the whole of it if you would like, http://www.legislature.idaho.gov/legislation/2009/ho185.htm but to make a long story short they are wanting (the government) the midwifes in Idaho to have to be certified and licensed. Now there is a contingency out there that don't want this to happen. There are exceptions like religious reasons and emergancies or if a family memeber delivers the child. Okay here is my stance on it. I believe there is nothing wrong with having a person certified. I think that they should have to have basic cpr and maybe and industrial or emergancy first aid if something goes wrong. Now I don't believe in the government getting into my business much but when we are dealing with small lives I think there should be rules.
I look forward to hearing what you have to say on the subject and the lively debate it may become.

I didn't know that you could do that WITHOUT one! (Shows what I know.) Plus, without some form of licensing, what happens if its the "midwife's" fault that a child is born disabled or stillborn. There is no legal standing to take action. What can you do as a victim? I think certifying them will protect the mother/child from having some fly-by-night midwife wannabe messing around where they oughtn't.
