Focus is the Hocus Pocus
Written by Misty-Eve
Monday, 04 May 2009

As I look outside my window this morning I can see the trees glistening with raindrops still clinging to their leaves.  The chatter of birds is sweet music to my ears, and I find myself longing to get out there and go camping again!

In a newspaper column written by the local herb lady, she says the trees are “busting out all over”.  The bright emerald green of new growth from the recent rain seems especially florescent this morning covered in the sparkling dew.

There is beauty all around me, if I look for it.  I can focus my attention on the green grass, the new spring leaves budding out, and the flowers that blossoming.  My world is filled with the life-giving energy of Mother Nature.  Life will always find a way.

The weather this Spring has taught me a valuable lesson.  Even though the floods, late freezes and other set backs may seem devastating for a time, Source has a plan.  There is a reason for every circumstance.

Where growth cannot take place, life turns to find new avenues for expansion.  When God shuts a door, he always opens a window.  It is our job to turn from the direction that has closed, and turn toward the direction that has opened, for there we will find life “busting out all over”!

I had a vision a few days ago that showed me that if I just keep on moving in the direction I want to go, that everything I am wanting will fall into place even better than I dreamed it would.  I’m so thankful to be in a place where I can see the beauty in my current experiences, and know that my magic is working in the background bringing me my most cherished dreams.

“Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.
But you are eternity and you are the mirror.”
~ Kahlil Gibran

Life will always find a way to expand whatever we dwell upon the most.

What are YOUR dreams?

Is your focus stuck on the chaos of change, or are you looking at the vibrant new growth?

It’s worth thinking about…

BEAUTY HEALS

Beauty is everywhere. Natural beauty shines forth from every little flower, from the patterns of reflected light on the surface of water, from the quiet strength of old trees. Flowers, like people, are all beautiful in their own way and constantly unfolding. Nature thrills me, renews and refreshes me. I find relaxation, enjoyment, and healing in the simplest things in life. As we look with love at nature we can find it easy to look with love at ourselves. We are all part of nature; thus, we are all beautiful in our own unique way. Wherever you look you can see beauty.

Affirm: Today you and I resonate with all the beauty in life.

TODAY, STOP AND NOTICE BEAUTY
~ Carrie Hart

Multiple times throughout the day, stop, take a deep breath and focus completely, if only for a moment, on something of beauty. This can be an object you carry in your pocket, a flower on your desk, a picture on the computer.

Yet another wonderful way to do this is to focus on the beauty in the simple everyday objects that are a part of your life. When you pour that cup of coffee, notice how the bubbles push up against the edge of the cup and slowly dissipate.

Your life is full of such little details, moments of which can be captured and focused upon, bringing you out of your busy mind and down into the life you are actually living, this moment, right now. And if you allow yourself, you will see that this everyday existence is full of beauty. It surrounds you and requires only that you notice it. Small and simple, fleeting and on the periphery, the little things and times of beauty are all there, all around you, everywhere. A sky above as you walk across the parking lot, a little flower pushing though the sidewalk crack, a tree you walk beneath, shedding her leaves. The way your hand looks, the curve of your fingers, the lines in your palm - this alone could be worthy of a deep and peaceful meditation.

Breathe, focus, become one with the object of observation, deeper each time, for THERE will Peace and beauty be found.

BEAUTY: QUOTES OF THE DAY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful, for beauty is God's handwriting - a wayside sacrament.  Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every flower, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing.”
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Have you heard the expression, “We’re either growing or we’re dying.”?  Well, what they’re saying is, “You can’t stand still.”  We are either giving our attention to where we’re going or we’re giving attention to where we’ve been or we’re giving our attention to where we are, but in any case, wherever we’re giving our attention is our vibration, and the Universe is matching it.”
~ Abraham Hicks
“Live your life each day as you would climb a mountain. An occasional glance toward the summit keeps the goal in mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each new vantage point.”
~ Harold V Melchert
“Above and below me hovers the Beautiful.
I am surrounded by it.
I am immersed in it.
In my youth began my awareness of it.
As an adult I pause in gratitude for it.
And in old age I quietly walk the Beautiful trail.”
~ Native American Prayer
ON BEAUTY
~ Excerpted from "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran
And a poet said, Speak to us of Beauty.
And he answered:
Where shall you seek beauty,
and how shall you find her unless she herself be your way and your guide?
And how shall you speak of her except she be the weaver of your speech?
The aggrieved and the injured say, "Beauty is kind and gentle.
Like a young mother half-shy of her own glory she walks among us."
And the passionate say, "Nay, beauty is a thing of might and dread.
Like the tempest she shakes the earth beneath us and the sky above us."
The tired and the weary say, "beauty is of soft whisperings. She speaks in our spirit.
Her voice yields to our silences like a faint light that quivers in fear of the shadow."
But the restless say, "We have heard her shouting among the mountains,
And with her cries came the sound of hoofs, and the beating of wings and the roaring of lions."
At night the watchmen of the city say,
"Beauty shall rise with the dawn from the east."
And at noontide the toilers and the wayfarers say,
"We have seen her leaning over the earth from the windows of the sunset."
In winter say the snow-bound,
"She shall come with the spring leaping upon the hills."
And in the summer heat the reapers say,
"We have seen her dancing with the autumn leaves, and we saw a drift of snow in her hair."
All these things have you said of beauty.
Yet in truth you spoke not of her but of needs unsatisfied,
And beauty is not a need but an ecstasy.
It is not a mouth thirsting nor an empty hand stretched forth,
But rather a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted.
It is not the image you would see nor the song you would hear,
But rather an image you see though you close your eyes
and a song you hear though you shut your ears.
It is not the sap within the furrowed bark, nor a wing attached to a claw,
But rather a garden for ever in bloom and a flock of angels for ever in flight.
Beauty is life when life unveils her holy face.
But you are life and you are the veil.
Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.
But you are eternity and you are the mirror.
~ Kahlil Gibran's book, published in 1923 is "The Prophet"
Taurus: “I HAVE”
2nd Decan Influence:  BEAUTY
May 1st – May 10th
It is appropriate that Taurus' 2nd Decan of BEAUTY falls on May Day as it heralds the beginning of one of the most colorful times of the year.   Beauty is the handmaiden of Attraction.  It is Beauty, most of all that Attracts us.  Taurus is the sign of Venus who is, herself, the epitome of beauty and attraction.  Taurus is a feminine sign and we find that Taureans are beautiful, loving and attractive, pleasing of line, of color of form and behavior.
These attributes are the first steps of love-ability, for if the eye is not pleased the heart rarely seeks to know.   Beauty then is first learning to be appealing which leads us toward learning to love, and thereby power our magic.   Magic should always be powered with love, because whatever we send out comes back to us 7-fold.   Therefore we would be wise to have the great 'Law of Cause and Effect' working in our favor.
In our society beauty is a much abused idea.  Far too often commercial and artificial standards have been imposed upon it.  But beauty, like truth, is insuppressible and inalterable, for it lies in the person who beholds it.  Magically, we are all beautiful for we are children of the Gods and all Their creation is a thing of beauty.
Let us each make an effort to see the beauty all around us; the beauty in ourselves: the way we look, in what we do, think and say; as well of the beauty in those around us.  It has been said that “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”  This is the beautiful influence of Taurus’ 2nd decan.  We find ourselves attracted to what we see as beautiful.  Thus do we learn to see the beautiful part of ourselves mirrored in what we see as beautiful in others.
“People often say that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder,' and I say that the most liberating thing about beauty is realizing that YOU are the beholder. This empowers us to find beauty in places where others have not dared to look, including inside ourselves.”
~ Salma Hayek
