I had the oddest dream last night, and I just wanted to write it down to share and understand:
Normally, my dreams are really mundane reinactments of obvious anxieties in my life. It's pretty rare for me to have a dream that is actually not negative.
Last night, I had a dream that I was in my library's special collections/archives room, and there were two bunnies hopping around loose. This is amusing in and of itself, because this room is on the second floor of our main building and the doors are always closed and locked for security purposes.
One bunny was a baby brown bunny, the typical wild type. I think I dreamed about this one because I saw it while walking into work on Friday. The other rabbit was a large domestic one that was white and apricot.
So, I was in the special collections room trying to get these rabbits, more amused and happy than frustrated. The big one would actually let me touch and pet it. I remember just feeling a bit of childish happiness and amusement.
That was the basic dream.
So, now for my interpretation:
The obvious symbols are the room and the two rabbits.
I don't work in special collections, so it's not a place a enter on a daily basis. I am thinking that this room in my dream symbolized the most valued part of my internal self that I have always kept locked away from everyone. Special Collections and Archives is always the most impressive looking room in a university library with the most valuable collection, and always the most secured.
Rabbits have many meanings in dreams, but I am pretty sure these rabbits symbolize the "fluffy, cuddly" emtional aspects of myself that I keep hidden. The baby rabbit was present, but wasn't social. It hid from be in the dream. I would say the baby rabbit symbolized my past, when my internal self was minimized, and I was emotionaly fragile. I hid my "cuddly" emotions from everyone, just like the baby rabbit hid from me.
The domestic rabbit was basically a big cuddly bunny that was nervous, but still socialble. I am thinking and hoping that this rabbit symbolizes my acceptance of my emtional self, and an ability to reach out to others with warmth and affection, though still tentative. I've been working on this aspect of myself for some time, and I am praying that this dream was my subconcsious telling me I am making progree.
Very weird dream for me, but it makes more sense now that I have typed it out. If anyone would like to offer any additional interpretations, I would welcome them
