Working on a short story, the heroine is a witch. Something is in her garden at night, but she is warned to stay inside the house.
When she leaves the house the next morning, all of her flowerpots are shattered.
What I need: a Northern growing flower that would indicate protection or a sort of old time burglar alarm - I put red geraniums on a whim, but the story is set in upstate NY, is this a good choice, or is there anything else you can think of? Thanks for the advice...
