Some times I really do!  Had to work today and it was crazy.  Friday nights always are.  We really need two people there until close but then my boss would have to PAY two people.  Had a con artist come in while I had a line out the door.  He got me side tracked then managed to convince me that I gave him the wrong change for his $50.  Well tonight my drawer was $37 dollars short.  Damned ass hole stole more than half a day's pay from me, cause unless I counted my drops wrong then that will come out of my check next Friday.  That is more than half of what I make in a day!  Evil or Very Mad   Nothing I can do about it now but wish a slow painful death upon him.

Helluva way to spend my 'day off'  Oh yeah, did I mention the girl who was suppose to work today up and quit.  We were kind of expecting it and I am glad she is gone but why couldn't she have quit tomorrow?  I freaking hate Fridays!
Then of course to top it off I had the normal rude, smart mouthed customers.  I usually get 4 or 5 rude assholes a week, if I'm lucky. (bang)

And the other day I accidentally left my car window down and it rained.  Well it's dry now but Ben had a fit when he found out today.  He went over the deep end telling me my car is going to get the road cancer now and fall apart and I'll have to get a new car and blahblahblah.  Like I said, it is totally dry.  But Ben has a habit of assuming the worst in every situations and of making mountains out of molehills.  Guess I never have to worry, he does enough for both of us

Sorry to rant but tonight has just been a shitty night. Crying or Very sad

sorry to hear your Friday evening was so crappy, saddest part is the dude who ripped you off is probably thinking he took the money from the store....not that that makes it right but some people just don't get the idea that they are either going to cause someone who can't afford it a hardship immediately or they will (worst case scenario) end up losing their jobs.karma.....will bite him in the ass ...or we hope it will anyhow.
Are you working today? Or are you lucky enough to get a Saturday off?
You might want to take some time to just relax...find some lavendar...a cup of chammomile tea and a nice spot to hide for a while.

Blessings

Lisa

Indigo, in the future, if you get another customer who claims that you short changed them, inform them that they are welcome to stick around until closing and you balance your drawer. If your drawer balances out, you know you were right and that person was trying to rip you off. If your drawer has an overage, than the customer may have a legitimate complaint. If the drawer balances out correctly and the customer is still claiming that you short changed them, advise them they are welcome to take it up with the manager in the morning. I'm sorry you were vicimized by such a low life. Just have faith that karma will bite him in the but. It always does in the end. Eventually, he run his game on the wrong person and I'd be willing to bet his mouth will write a check his body can't cash Wink

Called the store this morning to tell the manager what happened.  The manager wasn't there but the assistant manager was.  She told me the same thing had happened to the manager the other day!  Seems we are dealing with a professional So maybe they will cut me some slack.  I hope so!

She said the Owner is going to pull the tames and see if we caught him on camera since we have a rough description of the guy and it has now happened twice.  She also told me next time it happens to get the customers name and number and tell them if my drawer is over I'll leave a note with the manager and they can comeback in the morning and get their change.

I guess that is similar to what you said Draco.  Can't invite them to hang around because I am the only person in the store at closing.  Which is midnight.  And besides, I key my drops in to the computer and after I drop all my money and close my register it prints out a sheet, I then have to add the numbers and make sure my numbers add up to what the sheet says it should.  In other words if my drawer is over or under I can not reach to money to make corrections and the register has been closed for the day anyway.  If we miscount something the manager goes behind us and double checks the next morning.

O the memories.  I worked in retail for about 25 years--24 years longer than I should have.  It had its ups and downs. I put up with it all:  thieves (employee and customer), shifty, manipulative vermin for coworkers, petty, whining, vindictive lying customers (and bosses).  I worked with some very good people and the customers weren't nearly all bad, but I gradually lost track of that.  I gradually lost my patience and, worst of all, my sense of humor.  My typical day would begin with the suspicion that things weren't going to get any better, and end with the conviction that they were indeed getting much worse.  My last job in the retail industry was for a chain of truck stops (or, as they are euphemisticaly called, travel plazas.)  That was the final nail in the coffin.  I would answer customer complaints with such witticisms as "Well, at least it's better than a concrete block from an overpass."  I would then quietly look the embittered soul in the eye and he would suddenly decide he didn't want my conversation any more.  Eventually my boss and I agreed that I would probably be happier doing something else.  I now work for a security company, besides operating a small, lucrative business on the side.  I don't hate people nearly so much now that I'm not around them constantly.  I just had to wake up and realize that there were better things out there.  I know, we all have to do what we have to do at any given time in our lives, but we can't allow our vision to be clouded by our own bitterness and cynicism.

Hope this helps.
Blessings.

Sad Indigo, sorry to hear about your day.  I hate dishonesty.  Folks like that rarely stop to consider just how they are affecting others.  I hope seeing as this seems to be some sort of pattern that your boss will not punish you ~ especially seeing as his/her under staffing was the main reason behind you being distracted.  At a shopp I used to work in, they had a clip just above the change drawer, so when a customer gave you a note, you could slip it under the clip whilst doing their change.  That way if they claimed they gave you more, the note was just there.

Anyway, hope all goes well!

A

Indigo, my daughter works retail at the local mall. She comes home some days with stories that make my skin crawl. With my job, I have dealt with criminals (and their families) for the last 23 years. There isn't a lot that surprises me when it comes to criminal activity. I get so worried when my daughter has to make the cash drop at the end of the night. The problem is I've seen the very worst the human race has to offer for so long that I truely do struggle to maintain the belief that the number of good people out numbers the bad ones. But every now and then, my guardian angels let me know, somehow, that my life isn't all that bad, and that there are good people out there. It doesn't sound like you've had a great week. Have faith that your life will improve. All you have to do is ask for it. Just remember that the energy you send out will return to you 3 fold. Think about what the dirtball that stole from you is gonna get in the end- that might make you feel a little better  Smile

Blessings,

Draco
