Leo - The Magic of Will Power
by Misty-Eve*
August 12, 2009
The month of LEO is ruled by the SUN, the Great Power of the Father, and we all find we have more power to do and be at this time of year. The Sun's Command: "Be Strong". It has been said that God looks through the face of the Sun. This great Star of our solar system, is the power behind the life that emerges here on Earth.
"All living creatures and all plants derive their life from the sun. If it were not for the sun, there would be darkness and nothing could grow—the earth would be without life."
~ Okute, Teton Sioux
"We call the sun, Father Sun. Father Sun shines life on Mother Earth and from this Father and Mother all life forms exist and continue to reproduce. The Sun shines on all; it is not selective.
~ Don Coyhis, Mohawk
This powerful Source Energy urges each of us to be strong in our ability to love, for the Creator is also Love. During the influence of Leo the concern for Love and Strength tends to mix us up somewhat in our desires; first our love for others, and then we have our desire to rule over them. These two desires must combine with Leo's dual divine influence "I Love" and "I Will" for the tendency to love and rule is further mixed with our desire to do whatever we will, because this Leo influence is accompanied with strong motivation.
This last week-end my former spouse and I "split the blanket" (as it's sometimes referred to). We divided our things. He packed up what he wanted and will be leaving the state. We had a good talk, and parted fairly, I think. I can only wish him well in the path he's chosen.
I find that if I truly Love, I actually cannot do whatever I Will. I must refine my actions to reflect the Love that I feel, and must be responsible that my deeds also reflect this Love.
In my own practice of magic, I've discovered that what I want does not always align itself with the Will of the Creator.
How do I know what the Creator's Will is?
When my magic manifests I know it is blessed by the Creator. If it were not in alignment with the Creator's will, then I would not be allowed to borrow this Creative Power for my use. Like any loving parent, we don't get to borrow the family car keys if we're not in harmony with the family.
If I'm not in harmony, then my magic does not manifest. It may appear at a more appropriate time for me, however, or perhaps not at all. Whether it manifests or not, either way I always see it as a learning experience - a "gift" from the Creator - telling me "not this way, try another".
If my Will manifests then I know the Gods have blessed my wishes. However, if my Will does NOT manifest, it is also a gift. The goals I have that do not manifest tell me that what I want is either not part of my journey at this time, or that I need to reassess my goals and re-think what I want.
As a child of the Creators, I do not always get what I want magically. Parents, here on Earth, will not always give their children what they ask for, especially when it might be harmful to them, or would be better given when the child is older. As above, so below. Would this be as our Celestial Parents would act, as well?
As a child, I learned that when I wanted what my parents wanted for me, then I got it immediately and they were happy that I could see the value of the thing, as they did. Isn't this the same for us as children of our Celestial Parents?
When it comes right down to it, what I want I only achieve when it aligns with the "powers that be." Many times I've noticed that if I just "talk it over" with the Creators and then ask for guidance, I will learn what they want for me. After asking for guidance I usually see that what manifests is MUCH better than what I had asked for to begin with.
Is MY WILL more important?
What about: `Not my Will, but Thine be done, on Earth as it is above'... Is this the real lesson to be learned? If I align myself to be more like my divine Parents and want what They want, then I seem to have more of Their power to use, and my magic manifests with much better results than I would have gotten otherwise. When I learn to LOVE and align my WILL with the great power of Love, then I am rewarded.
"I want to Know the thoughts of God - all the rest is details."
~ Albert Einstein
When my desire aligns with the power of the Gods, then everything just falls into place without much effort on my part. When I want something that doesn't line up with the Creators power, then blocks appear at every turn… as if to saying "No, this isn't the Way."
"Every person is born for a purpose. We may know our purpose very early in our lives, or it may take us some time. Very often we need to experience many things before our purpose is clear to us. Sometimes we pick our goals to please others. Sometimes others pick our goals to make themselves happy. Often the result is that it makes us unhappy. We need to pray to the Creator and ask Him what our purpose is. When we live outside our purpose, our path is full of obstacles. When we live inside our purpose, our path is smooth. When we are aligned to our purpose, we are happy and content."
~ Don Coyhis Mohawk
Do you pay attention to the gift of direction that comes about because of your magical desires?
Can you see the smooth effect of magic that aligns with the Will of the Gods?
Whose WILL is more important in your magical workings?
Is it really not My Will, but "Thine" to be done on Earth as it is above?
It's worth thinking about...

THE NATURE OF THE UNIVERSE
Sometimes, things just go our way. We get the job we have been dreaming of, an unexpected check comes in the mail, or things just seem to effortlessly fall into place for no apparent reason. We call it luck or attribute it to simply having a good day, but in truth, we have been given a glimpse of the actual nature of the universe.
We tend to think the timing was right, never realizing that we are an innate part of the process. We are not random recipients of bounty. If only for the moment, our state of being pulls to us this divine experience of synchronicity. There is rhyme and reason to the way the universe unfolds.
When we are "in the flow," we have released the illusion that we can protect ourselves by being in control. We have gotten out of the way long enough to experience how effortlessly this process takes place.
We must be willing to stop pushing and allow the universe to send us the things we truly need rather than what we keep asking for.

GENEROSITY: QUOTES Of The DAY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Never, no never does Nature say one thing and wisdom another."
~ Johann Christolph Frederick von Schuller
"There are things man has control over, and there are things man does not have control over. No matter how smart we get, whether it be in technology or science, there are things we will never control. The Great Spirit carefully protected and hid the control over certain things in the Unseen World. There are forces in the Unseen World that make sure humans don't mess things up. The bottom line is, no matter what we do, nature will have the last say. Nature is the teacher, we are the students. May we honor and respect our teacher."
~ Don Coyhis, Mohawk
"An obstacle is often an unrecognized opportunity."
~ Source Unknown
"The Universe adores you; for it knows your broadest intentions. You have come to earth with great intentions, and the Universe constantly guides you on your chosen path. When you are feeling good, you are, in that moment, allowing more of that which you have intended from your broader perspective.
"If you could in this moment begin to feel appreciation for the fact that desire exists and then anticipate it's unfolding, rather than feeling instant disappointment that it has not already manifested, your energy would clear up by 95% and your manifestations would begin to flow to you so much more easily."
~ Abraham-Hicks
"In your pursuit of happiness, now and then it is wise to just pause and be happy. The pursuit of anything often causes us to focus on the pursuit itself rather than enjoying that which we are pursuing. Like success, happiness is a journey, not a destination."
~ Bo Bennett, YearToSuccess.com
RELAXATION THROUGH MEDITATION
My preference would be to call meditation relaxation – conscious relaxation, chosen relaxation. These are words that are more universally understood, more comfortable. Constantly working toward the goal of discovering my own ability to reach a state of serenity, I have learned to meditate.
Meditating is actually easier than you might imagine. Most of us have dabbled in meditation by participating in conscious relaxation. Maybe during an exercise class or to manage pain at the dentist or anxiety before a test. We start by paying attention to our breathing. The practical effort to focus completely on our breathing takes our minds away from the "mind clutter" that constantly tries to invade our mind and eliminate feelings that will lead to a time of calm. With repeated effort the goal of clearing your mind – to think of nothing, does occur and the process of meditation takes on its own energy. The result is, and I guarantee this, peace, serenity, calmness, eventually opening yourself to new insights.
The Answers are Within
Too much stress, stress reduction, chill out, let it go, detach – familiar phrases to all of us. Our world is fast, fun and exciting. It is also challenging, trying, demanding and frightening. These two sides of our lives produce stress, emotional reactions, anxiety, worry and anticipation. Our bodies and minds can tolerate only so much of any of these. After a while, each of us reaches a saturation point and the results become uncomfortable at best; for some it may be unbearable, even unendurable.
No magic pill is available to eliminate these feelings. The reality is, as the wise old man said, the answer is inside all of us. To manage these universal concerns we must go inside ourselves. Among the steps we can take is the learning and practicing of meditation.
What to Expect
With time and faith in the commitment to practice frequently, (daily meditating is ideal), during your meditation time you may "leave the moment." A feeling of separation exists where the mind is clear, clean and blank. You will still hear sounds around you, but they will not interfere with your meditation. Sometimes you may weep -- you may not even be aware of what is making you weep. It is your own emotions having a voice of their own. Sometimes you may feel a smile across your face -- that is contentment showing itself. Sometimes you may fall asleep and awaken truly refreshed.
There is no right or wrong behavior during your meditation. It is your time for you. Everyone deserves this kind of personal attention. This is a self-care activity; loving oneself! Teach it to your children instead of a time-out in their room or corner. Teach it to your friends, family, anyone who will listen. We can share this gift and get back as we give. We are all better because of each person who meditates. The peace and joy felt by those who meditate enters the world for all of us as positive energy. From it the world is a better place. Imagine if we all practiced meditation!
LEO: "I LOVE" and "I WILL"
2nd Decan Influence: "GENEROSITY"
August 2nd – August 12th
"Generosity" is the next great Leo influence. Dictionary.com defines Generosity: "Nobility of thought or behavior; magnanimity." Generosity, then, is a matter of being noble and this generous nobility is a lovely tempering attribute of true rulers and the key to their greatness.
Nobility is often misunderstood and has come to have two distorted meanings. It does not mean high and lordly nor does it mean just giving out the goodies. Nobility and generosity, in its true sense, is acting as though one were of noble birth, that is, possessing naturally a certain nobility of mind. This should not be confused with an air of hateur or superiority but the noble or generous person (often a Leo) acts as a gentle man or gentle woman, which is the real meaning of the word Lady.
Generosity comes to us from the Latin "Gens" meaning beginning and reflects the nature of monarchs who, historically being of nobility born, are generous. Rulership without nobility is despotism, but with generosity it becomes noble and gentle. The Wise are gentle, noble and generous.
