Beautifully scented, attractively presented all-natural essential oil bath salts...
...stuck in their bottles Sad  and now bubbling and oozing oil out of their corked tops  Confused

Any ideas to keep my next all-natural batch from sucking up every ounce of Pennsylvania humidity? they will undoubtedly be bottled in wider-mouthed jars.

Much appreciated,
RealEyez

I don't know if this would work with bath salts, but if you put a little rice in the bottom of a regular salt shaker, it absorbs the moisture and keeps the salt flowing freely.   Of course, rice in bath salts means rice in the bath, unless you package it with a perforated shaker top.

When I make bath salts I add a little arrowroot to the mix (before adding the essential oils) to keep them from clumping together.  Using an airtight jar is also the best way I have found for storage.  You also want to leave about a half inch head space at the top of the jar.

perfect. how much arrowroot is a "little"?, because i'll be doing that.
also, cork is gone. the new jars i ordered are wide-mouth screw tops (like most of my family...).

someone also suggested the silica gel packets. what do you think?

It depends on what size batches you are making really.  I add 2-3 Tablespoons to a batch of salts that fill about 8 6 oz jars.

If you go to a restaurant supply place that carries large spice jars.  You can get arrowroot in a decent quantity for less than ordering online.  I have read arrowroot is also good for talcum powder and makeup base although I haven't tried it yet.

Arrowroot huh?  Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a try next time.

I've learned a long while ago that keeping salts in an air tight bag seems to be the best way to keep them from clumping too much. I have put them in mason jars but that doesn't seem to help. They would adhere to the glass and is like cement.

As far as arrowroot I have never heard of that one. I should try it!
