It was bad enough that this was my first Father's Day since my Dad passed away 6 months ago. Then I come into work tonite and find the higher ups are writing me up for some stupid technicality! Its the kind of crap that really brings out the worst in me- personally and professionally :!:

This just smacks of the way businesses are behaving in this economy.

Has your company recently been doing downsizing and other cost cutting measures?  Is it possible they wrote you up to try to cut costs by cutting headcount?

I don't know...maybe I'm being overly pessimistic, but too many of the people I know have lost jobs for no good reason other than businesses cutting costs by cutting people.

Thanks Marigold. EM, my job isn't downsizing, that's for sure. As a matter of fact, because I work in a jail, my department is just about the only one in the county that isn't laying off. And even if they were, there are only 2 people in my position as a supervisor that have more seniority than I do. It was a small thing though. It was just ill timed because of the sucky weekend I had. No biggie. I just hate the micro-managing mentality that seems to have taken over the administration here. Screw it  :!:  I'm retiring next year anyway :!:   .

Draco, some people are just power happy, and get their jollies by exercising that power over others. ( A polite way of saying an asshole with power, is still and asshole!   )

I have lost alot of faith in mankind of late, in their ability to remain human in these changing times. (and that isn't always a good thing to remain lol)

How true. Problem is they forget where they came from. Even worse is when they say: "I've been in your shoes and it wasn't that bad." What they fail to realize is they've changed the rules of the game and what they used to do or how they used to do things no longer has any relevance. I just can't stand all the micro-managing crap. Its gonna be a long 14 months (till I retire)

Yep too many of those days to count, and I figured I knew too damn many of those people. So I said goodbye..or actually it was "I quit".
Moving south was one of our better decisions so far. Less money but much nicer people and the riding weather and roads are awesome.
One of the these days we will have to post a video here of the rides. We will celebrate with you when you can finally tell them goodbye.... I'm affraid I'd have to agree with you on that. The folks down south are somewhat more outgoing, relaxed, and more courteous. For some reason, alot of the folks here in the Garden State are very rude and aggressive. Not everyone mind you. It just seems the closer you get to more urban areas the level of courtesy experienced lessens somewhat. Unfortunately, there are times when I myself can be rather aggressive or just lack patience with others. Thats another reason why I can't wait to retire from corrections. I want to recapture some of the humanity that I used to have. After 25 years of being around the worst people the world has to offer, it turns you very cold. Its not that I have no compassion, its just that it seems to be burried really deep and not too many folks carry around a big enough shovel to get to it.
