Just wanted to let everyone know I am still alive.  Sorry I haven't been active in the past couple of months.  I moved back in with my mom and she doesn't have internet and the library has a time limit.  It takes most of the one hour to fill out an application.  But I wanted to let every one know I am ok.

I am sorry I didn't give you guys any warning that I was about to dissappear but a friend of Ben's told me about this site in the first place and a few months before I left he started showing his true colors so I couldn't take a chance.  But I am safe and sound now.  I probably won't be as active as I use to be for a while but I'll try to check in once a week or so.

yeah, it sucks to only be able to get on for an hour.  And to not beable to use youtube.  maybe after a little while i can get a cheap laptop, then I can use it anywhere with free wifi.

Well, on the defense of libraries, the only way you can limit people using the computers as a terminal for free 24/7 porn is to setup 1 hour limits with website restrictions. I do not have enough fingers on my hands to count the number of times I have had to call the police or security because of some guy masterbating on a public terminal (I mean, literally).

Indigo, if you are any good with computers, you might consider getting something used. My laptop is around 8 years old. I bought it for $50 and had just enough computer knowledge to revive it from near death. There are some good deals out there is you have a little bit of tech savvy A pawn shop may not be a bad choice for browsing for a cheap computer.

I have no tech skills.  But Wal-mart has some laptops for around $300.  And if I go back to school I will definately need one.  My uncle said his pell grant paid for his laptop as well as his books, so that is something to keep in mind.

Indigo, glad you're safe & back home. Personally, I told my daughters that as long as I have a roof over my head they'll always have a roof over theirs'. I don't know how the computers are in your libraries, but I know the ones at the county libraries in my neck of the woods are a bit slow. So its not surprising to me if it takes an hour to file just 1 job application online. As far as going back to school: If you have the time and funding to do it, I'd always recommend investing in yourself and furthering your education. The mere fact that you are making the investment in  yourself by furthering your education says a lot to any employer about you. Besides, the computers at colleges are bound to faster than the ones at the public libraries   . Best of luck in whatever direction you decide on.

Glad to hear you are doing okay Indi. Pell Grants can be used for anything you need basically,whether it is a laptop, textbook, food or transportation. Since your parents are in dire straits financially you will probably qualify at the max amount. Its been a while since I was in school so I don't know what that will be.
I would see the counselor at the college or school you want to attend and do a blanket application for aid asap. You don't want to overlook any source of revenue. While you are at it check to see if you can put in for part-time work on campus. It helps to have an employer who will be flexible with your schedule when finals come around
