Howdy all. Just wanted to ask for some healing energies sent for my daughter. She injured her back some how and has to pitch for her softball team in a big college showcase tournament this weekend. She's competing for scholarship money for college. She has plans of going to medical school for sports medicine and a scholarship would mean the world to her. Although I want my baby to do well, I just hate it when she's hurt or in pain. So any healing energies sent her way would be deeply appreciated.

Blessings,

I am sorry to hear your daughter got hurt. We will all remember her in our thoughts and prayers. Is this the daughter who will be going to college here in Tennessee?
I have heard only good things about the colleges here Smile  and I know a scholarship is very important. Which college is she hoping to attend?
Blessings

Thanks Novia and Eeyoresgirl. EG, she's looking into the University of Tennessee. I'd rather see her get an academic scholarship over an athletic one. Luckily she's good in both areas as her GPA is a just a tick over 4.0 Very Happy  I've always told her: if you get hurt playing softball in college, some colleges will pull your scholarship. but if you get an academic scholarship, you control your own destiny.
Novia, I'm at my wits end. After dinner on Saturday, my daughter and I went outside to practice her pitching. While we were practicing, my daughter's belly started hurting- so we called it quits for the day. I started cleaning up after dinner, and my daughter went to take a shower. A short time later, I heard her calling for me from upstairs. I get upstairs and found her doubled over in pain, barely conscious, and had diarrhea. I eventually took her to the emergency room and she was admitted. Two days later, after this test and that test and loads of lab work, they still have no idea what the problem is. This problem started about a year ago. And every time she has one of these episodes, it ends the same way-NO ANSWERS. My request is a simple one: Please ask the angels to cast light on this phantom menace that nobody has been able to find. If we can at the very least know what is causing these episodes, then we can more effectively treat the actual cause rather than just the symptoms. As parents, my wife and I are extremely frustrated. My daughter is well beyond the point of frustration as she resists even going to see any doctors because nobody seems to have any answers, and I can't say I blame her. I just want my baby to be happy & healthy. My prayers seem to be falling on deaf ears. I only ask that the angels make known what the problem is so we can properly address it. (bang)

Blessings,

Draco

Draco, personally I think it is time to seek out a specialist in internal/gastro. If this is from her original injury there may be some damages to the internal muscular system of her abdomal region.  Something may be twisted inside. It doesn't sound like she is one to take it easy and not strain things further to let them totally heal, if it was something that could heal without assistance. ('Belly' is a tough area to pinpoint. My kids used to tell me all the time, their 'bellies hurt', but I had to play 20,000 questions to figure out where/how.)

It is the most helpless thing for parents to not be able to help our children.  Crying or Very sad

I do have to agree to seek out the academic, moreover the sports, scholarship route.

She has got to stop! If the sports/activity increase/causes the pains to worsen.....no brainer, the body WILL win this conversaton!

On a side note, does it worsen after eating?

Novia, she's been seeing a pediatric gastro specialist for the past few years. Even he is frustrated as this phantom problem has been difficult to diagnose (and he was from one of the top pediatric hospitals in the region). Whatever this thing is, it goes "dormant" for awhile, and all is well. But when it flares  up, it strikes hard and fast. At one point, he was treating it like Crohn's disease, but later ruled it out.  And for this kid to complain that something hurts, it REALLY hurts. She has an extremely high pain tolerance. And to say she's not one to take it easy is an under statment. Laughing  For example, unless she was physically unable to walk (say due to a broken limb or something, which thankfully she's never had) she'd never take herself out of a game. And she's always been like that.  Now she's scheduled for an endoscopy (from both ends) next week. That's why I'm praying for a guiding light to be cast on whatever this problem is so that it can be addressed and dealt with properly. (by the way, this will be her 3rd such proceedure). And you are right- we as parents feel completely helpless.

Blessings,

Draco
