LOL HERB/FLOWER ORACLE

6. NON-CONDITIONAL LOVE

Herb: Nettle
Nettle will assist initiates in transcending the ownership patterning that leads to attachment upon a biological level. Biological ownership is equated to certain "toxic" biochemical substances that cause a density of form and a lower vibration due to an ongoing loss of chi upon a molecular level. Nettle assists in clearing out such substances so that one no longer loses chi and may ascend upwards in biological vibration. If one has been exposed to toxic chemicals in one's life prior to ascension, one may call upon our kingdom for support; or one may ingest the herb as one is so guided from within.

DREAMSTONES

TREE-keyword...GROWTH

knowledge, wisdom, spirit, putting down roots, planting seeds of ideas, thought processes, studies, learning, heritage, family tree, patience, enlightenment, continuation, abundance, work, money security, prosperity I like the tree symbol a lot, because it can encompass so many different things in one little package.

It can be about home and family. The relationships and ties that we have to a particular place, as well as to certain people (who may not be related to us, but who we still call "family")

It also encompasses the whole Green movement, which is becoming so important these days. Recycling, renewal, eco-conscience, and environmental concerns. It represents the tree huggers, and the organic cotton wearing folk.

It represents simple pleasures of gardening, and work to make things grow...whether it is children or flowers. and on the other side, which seems a little like an oxymoron...it also represents money, and investment, and material wealth.!

So tree became fixed in my mind as representing material collections (as it goes along with Earth symbolism) and the idea of selling off this "investment" on e-bay. so now auctions and online money making also come up as a secondary meaning for tree.

I-CHING OF THE DAY

Hexagram for Everyone for Today:

1: Creative Power. General Meaning:

The atmosphere is ripe with imagination, inspiration and energy, symbolized by the flying dragon. The dragon is an ancient symbol of an electrically charged, dynamic, arousing force that bodes well for creative initiatives.  If your goals are in alignment with the greater good, your actions will meet with success, but this can only happen if you apply yang energy in a positive way. This hexagram, which consists of all yang lines, indicates a good time to take a leadership role, because Creative Power is with you now. But be forewarned: success turns to failure if you let strength turn to arrogance.

Believe in your vision and persevere; everything around you will flourish. Call upon Creative Power and let it work through you. Stay focused on your goals. Do not let yourself be distracted, or you may lose the power available to you now. And remember that when taking action, successful results require good timing.

CAT-keyword...MYSTERY

Independence, adaptability, survival, nine lives, secretive, Goddess energy, love, sexuality, grace, sleekness, good or bad luck, hunting, resting, home, comfort, pleasure, deception Cats are sacred to Venus, and Bast, which is why I included the stuff about sexuality and love, and pleasure

Cats can also be aloof little tricksters!
The good luck is due to the lucky charms from Asia, showing the cat with one paw in the air... and or course there is much superstition about black cats being bad luck, though personally I think of them as good!

Cats are also traditional witches familiars, so the stone can refer to witchcraft or crafting, ritual and pagan pursuits (especially when the Tree is nearby!)
Cats are the best sleepers. They know how to relax! when I give out cat talismans I always say they will bring a good night's sleep.

GODDESS ORACLE

ASTARTE--Queen of Heaven (Eternity, stars, sexuality)

This Assyrian goddess is one of the ancient deities honored by humanity. Her shrines date from the Neolithic period of the stone age. honored as Queen of heaven, Astarte was thought to rule over stars, who were believed to be the brightly shining spirits of the dead. This connection to death also suggests another function of Astarte as a goddess of war. However, most consider Astarte an early incarnation of Aphrodite, the Greek fertility goddess whose Roman counter part is Venus. As such, Astarte is associated with sexuality and love. One of the symbols for Astarte is a circle surrounding a star, representing the planet Venus.

"Use the past as a lesson. Move forward with love."

I-CHING OF THE DAY

Hexagram for Everyone for Today:

26: Containment of Potential

General Meaning:

This hexagram points to the containment of great power that increases as it is wisely stewarded. Like a river that has been dammed, or a boiling pot with a lid on, holding and containing power produces enormous energy. During normal times, daily ritual and habit help keep life ordered and serene; but in times of great opportunity, great fortitude is required. Focused attention is what will be required to channel this great potential and achieve supreme success.

In a current situation you have considerable reserves of energy and support to draw upon. This is the right time to channel creativity by collecting and organizing good ideas and plans. In this way, even large or extremely challenging undertakings can be successful.

A hidden source of power for the great is the study of the past. The lives of wise and successful men and women are like buried treasures of wisdom. Great good fortune comes to those who unearth these valuable treasures by applying the lessons of the ages to current events.

OCEANS ORACLE

ZIGZAG SCALLOP-Pectin ziczac

MEANING: Engaging in behaviors that don't produce the desired outcome; confusion; the need for change in direction  to find clarity.
EXPLANATION: Scallops clap their shells together to great effect. This allows them to swim rapidly by jet  propulsion. Some swim in a zigzag pattern, changing course to take any direction they desire. They may also clap their shells as they dive into mud. This creates a murky environment, making them more difficult to spot by enemies and aiding them in eluding capture. This deliberate muddying of the waters  represents extraneous information that detracts from the clarity of a situation and increases confusion.

GODDESS ORACLE

LAKSHMI-Goddess of Pleasure. (Wealth, beauty, Luck)

LAKSHMI is treasured in India as the goddess of wealth and beauty. It is believed that all who look upon LAKSHMI know instant happiness. She is usually depicted with her Consort Vishnu, the conqueror of darkness. Creating prosperity can be as creative an act as any artistic endeavor. LAKSHMI, the goddess of abundance, shows us that wealth can be divinely inspired. As the sacred manifestation of all forms of prosperity, she is perhaps the most popular of the Hindu gods and goddesses. LAKSHMI'S form is often depicted upon coins as bright as the fortune she offers her devotee's. LAKSMI is believed to be attracted to sparkling jewels, which are like the rich's she bestows. Statues of the goddess show her wearing gold and other precious gems and surrounded by verdant lotuses. "Love will bring you pleasure."

I-CHING OF THE DAY

11: Harmony

General Meaning:

The trigram earth is above that of heaven, and heaven seems to be on earth. The gravity of matter merges with the upward radiation of light to merge in deep harmony. This juxtaposition denotes a time of peace and blessings for all living things. In the affairs of humans, tranquility comes when the good, strong and powerful show favor to those of lower status, and those of more modes means are well disposed towards those who are currently blessed. This condition marks an end to feuding. In such a state, it is best to let the energy ride high. The way is cleared, and the prospects for great success are outstanding.

Chaotic forces still abide in nature, but man, by carefully responding to the rhythms and cycles of the world around him, can find peace in the natural world. By planting the right crop in the right place in the right season, the farmer brings harmony to the cultivation of plants, and prosperity to his family. Similarly, any business must adjust to the natural cycles of the season; only through flexibility and adaptation can order and growth be maintained. Peaceful times produce a time of flowering and prosperity; the wise person channels positive energy to all quarters, to each in proper proportion, just as a farmer waters his field. But be vigilant. Otherwise, peaceful conditions will foster the growth of weeds as well as flowers.

THE MOON--keyword...AWARENESS

Nurturing, female energy, mother, mothering, cycles, ever changing, moodiness, passive, inward feeling, life giving, reflection, flowing, imagination, sensitivity, caution, emotion, imagination, anonymous, behind the scenes, hidden mysterious, visionary.

The moon maid is everything about the traditional feminine energies, and of the moon itself. it is the opposite of the sun king in her passive rather than active energies...so if the sun is jumping into things without looking, then the moon maid quietly sits back and sees everything before making decisions.

Passive isn't always bad...often passivity is associated with surrender and submission...which makes some people feel uncomfortable, because they believe it makes them a loser or a victim.

But there are tons of positive aspects in surrender, and in fact some very enlightened leaders who chose this path, which made them stronger. Now, even though the moon is female, and the sun is male...they don't always come up that way in readings... because we each have the balance of both energies within us. There are many women I know who relate to the type A personality of the Sun King, more than the empathic quiet moon maid.

DOLPHIN--keyword PLAY

I always think of dolphins as spiritual and playful creatures. I admit I don't have a lot more ideas than
what I have already, mentioned in the book, but hopefully someone here will come up with some more great meanings. I know that dolphin are not really fish...but for the purposes (porpoises?) of this oracle, fish symbolism is also useful! Fish can represent Christ, and also have a spiritual meaning associated with them. I suppose if you were to have a dolphin and cat squaring off in the reading(with a sword between them!) I can see a religious debate happening between a Christian and a Pagan
(This happened once before in a reading!)

Fish are also abundance, fertility and nourishment. They represent being able to feed a family.

WITCH'S RUNES

CROSSROADS

The Crossroads most basic meaning is opposition, be it explicit or subtle. Something or someone is working against your plans and opposing your desires. It shows that your efforts and ideas are giving no results, because something is "freezing" them, in a sense. Hence, this rune is also related to stagnation.

Very often this rune brings frustration for the person who draws it, because it is as if they were constantly walking into walls. One may feel inclined to change their goals or to stop seeking something all together, but the Crossroads do not tell you to give up. They tell you to change your strategy, because the path you are at right now is blocked. And there are many ways to reach the same place. Be careful to not put yourself in a victim position. When the Crossroads appear it means that you'll need a lot of willpower to get what you want. Often you'll have to try again and again before getting any results, and everything will appear to evolve quite slowly. You may be confronted with periods of loneliness, isolation and with lack of support. This is a true test to your inner strength and resilience. Conflicts, misunderstandings and opposition are one side of this rune. It can also represent situation that are simply beyond your control. In a more positive light, the Crossroads stand for wisdom, discipline, courage and the ability to keep going again the strongest winds. It helps you to understand losses and limitations. In relationships reading, this rune can represent a karmic link between the people involved. If the relationship is starting, it probably will not go very far, or it'll be marked by misunderstanding and disputes. Past relationships that still linger and emotional obstacles are also represented by the Crossroads.

GODDESS ORACLE

OGBOINBA-Healing, the future and discontent.

Ogboinba is the daughter of Woyengi, the Nigerian mother goddess. Though Ogboinga possessed magical abilities that enabled her to heal the sick and predict the future, she was not content; Ogboinga yearns to become pregnant, a power she did not possess. Even though she passed through seven kingdoms and risked death to gain this ability, the goddess remained childless. The story of Ogboinba reminds us of the power of contentment. Despite the many gifts the goddess possessed, she was unable to find happiness within herself. If we spend all our time seeking our desires, we neglect to appreciate all we have now. "Though it is good to desire,  sometimes it is better to possess contentment"

I-CHING OF THE DAY

10: Treading Carefully

General Meaning:

People of ability find their way and make progress even in difficult circumstances. Consider your steps carefully when you are surrounded by changing forces. Weak and strong forces (or people) can co-exist when the weaker element does not impose upon the stronger, when the weaker maintains good humor and avoids taking bold action. When treading among sleeping tigers ? or slippery stones ? step gingerly and don't stumble. In the company of strong, brash people, rushing wildly ahead brings misfortune. Now is not a good time for taking the initiative; rather, try getting by with a little grace and good humor. In the court of a powerful king, the jester often has more power than the prince.

Swords are all about fighting...

Fighting for what you believe in...or for the underdog... or sometimes just to fight. And they can be the weapon of choice for the advocate, and those who speak up and help others. You can pull in all the tarot associations with swords as well...and think of them as air (or fire) symbols I always see the sword as a fixed, unflinching, unmovable symbol...if you want a definite answer... look at where the sword is in a reading...because along with star, the sword is one of those symbols that doesn't change its mind easily!

I can also see sword as balance and precision....doing things that require absolute focus, concentration and pinpoint accuracy. and of course, any martial art or military connection can be found within the sword symbol too. and the sword cuts through red tape and BS When we get into placement and readings, sword also is a symbol of the signpost...look at where sword is pointing, what other stones it points at, and where it is headed...and often that helps to guide you onward and upward.

WITCH'S RUNES

Harvest

This is a very positive rune, related to abundance, rewards, growth and benefits. But it's important to not mistake this rune for mere luck... while luck may help, the Harvest rune is usually related to the blessings that you have brought to yourself and to others, through your actions and investments.

"Reaping what you sow" is the message of the Harvest rune, but with a positive connotation. All that you worked and fought so hard to get will finally come to you, and you'll be able to enjoy a time of tranquility, optimism and expansion. As the obstacles that were (or still are) in the way become smaller, you have a solid ground to reach out for your dreams. Thus, the Harvest rune is a positive sign, telling you that you are in right path. However, it's important to know that this symbol is always attached to personal responsibility... it's what you do with your tools (whether they be mental, emotional or physical) that determines what you'll get back in the end. Use them wisely, and luck will serve you well. On a more negative side, this rune can make one sleep on their laurels and cling to past victories. One can become too reliant on "what works" and refuse to try new things (specially if the Crossroads rune is near). The Harvest runes should inspire you to take some risks and keep evolving, and not to crystalize yourself in one position because it proved to be successful.

In relationship readings, this symbol is connected to more practical aspects than emotional ones. Usually it represents couples who grow together, financially, socially and/or professionally. Security becomes an important factor when the Harvest appears. It represents the moment in which the couple begins to build their nest together, and think about starting a family. This rune tends to be very positive for all relationships, but doesn't always inspire much passion.

GODDESS ORACLE

?HEGET

(Fertility, frogs and water)

The Egyptian goddess Heget was considered the benign embodiment of fertility itself. As such she was closely associated with the Nile River, whose waters helped to nurture crops planted along its fertile banks. Heqet is usually represented with head of a frog because the banks of the Nile are overrun with millions of these amphiphibians after it floods. She was also honored as the goddess of childbirth; not surprisingly, her priestesses were also trained as midwives. Though fertility is usually associated with the physical manifestation of life, its more than that-it is life itself. Fertility surrounds us, offering us inspiration and energy. The goddess Heqet suggests the proliferation of this expansive force.

? "Fertility surrounds you in numerous forms. Open your eyes."

58: Joy

General Meaning:

A joy that is shared is symbolized by a group of friends playing, or a carefree young girl singing to herself while engaged in her work. Happiness is rising within, and spreading out into the world.

Joy arises through gentle means, but springs from a solid inner base. The power of pure joy should not be underestimated. The enjoyment of learning and discovery, for example, has let to great innovation and much material progress. Accordingly, that which brings the most joy into the world ? love ? is the source of life itself. If happiness is supported by personal stability, it will eventually wear down the stiffest barrier and win over the hardest heart. True joy is a beacon in the world, and though it is indeed rare, its presence is an indication of great good fortune, both now and in the future. How could it be otherwise?

MEANING-Desiring privacy over personal matters; discomfort over exposure of personal information.
EXPLANATION-Lima, or file clams, are poor swimmers and cant rely on this skill to evade predatory fish. However, once caught, their sticky, detachable tentacles immediately break off in

With the borrowed time, the clam employ one more marvelous adaption: They are capable of producing more byssus threads (filamentous strings) than any other mollusk--enough to form nests. these sanctuaries provide a place into which they can burrow to make their escape. The meaning of this shell is derived from this combination of stopping someone from talking and taking refuge in one's private quarters.

Saturn of course, is the Roman name for the God Chronus. and Chronus ruled the counting of days, and hours and minutes...recording time, calendar time...and all that organizing of time. on the other hand, there was another god that represented time...not as a fixed state, but as a flow.

38: Diverging Interests

General Meaning:

An image of estrangement is indicated here. One example used in ancient Chinese texts is how when brothers and sisters marry, they grow apart, since their allegiances now lie with new family groups. Though they will remain close enough to successfully deal with problems and share minor interests, they will be unable to undertake anything big together. Simply put, when people grow apart ? even for the most natural of reasons - their points of view, values and interests start to diverge.

Diverging interests bring opposition into the world of human affairs. And when differences morph into
alienation and enmity, no good results. But when opposition takes the form of healthy competition, or when contrasting energies or positions are seen as part of the natural order of things, good fortune is still possible. Even when diverging energies make a situation seem stagnant or futile, there are always creative possibilities inherent in polarities. One is reminded of the yin-yang interplay that is fundamental to the creation of life itself. But when opposition arises from issues of principle, you must hold to your integrity and individuality. And avoid becoming involved with vulgar or base people who do not share your values. With both people and companies, one measure of stature is the quality of the competition.

THE STAR--keyword...SUCCESS

Inner light, connection to universal energy, oneness, goals, dreams, wishes, higher self, aspirations, ambition, fame, recognition, approval, guidance, hope, radiance, belief, faith. Healing is another of star's meanings...(especially if it is near to dolphin, and opposing dragon.)

Star is another one of those stones...like tree, that has meanings that seem a bit opposite...because while it denotes fame, and success (and maybe even the wealth that goes with it) these are all recognition for the ego...on the other hand...star is higher spiritual guidance too...and a connection with Oneness, and the Divine energy, and your Higher Soul self.

In readings...the star is always good...it's always when you wish upon a star, your dreams come true...it doesn't have any negative attributes in and if itself, but it can certainly fall prey to negative or pessimistic energies around it (on the mat, or other stones nearby) and that's when fame and recognition take a darker turn.

WITCH'S RUNES

ROMANCE

As I mentioned briefly in the first post, the Romance rune is also a symbol of connection, just like the Rings rune. But differently from the latter, the former implies a deeper sort of connection. While in the Rings we have two (or more) people joining to reach a similar goal, here we have two people joining for reasons they can't quite explain.

Hence this rune is related to love, passion, emotional bonds, sexual chemistry and sudden attraction. Any strong bond can be symbolized by this rune, including the unconditional parental love or a very strong friendship. And it's not limited to the emotions that sparkle between individuals - the love can be also directed to an object, a subject or even a work.

It's important to not limit this rune to the emotional field. It can be quite physical, representing sexual relations, arousal and irresistible magnetism. This rune is powerful, and often gives an extra impulse to any rune that is close it. Charismatic and seductive people are represented by the Romance rune as well.

Outside from the field of romance and sex, this rune is concerned with any act of creation. If you have any ongoing projects, you can be sure an extra impulse will come and spur you on. The Romance rune can also represent the reconciliation of opposite forces or tendencies, and the resolution of conflicts. Obsessive thoughts, stubbornness in pursuing a person or a goal and lack of objectivity are the downfalls of this rune.

I-CHING OF THE DAY

61: Centering in Truth

General Meaning:

Truth involves establishing an aware relationship between your inner core and the circumstances in your life. Centering in truth involves the ability to perceive a fundamental wisdom, reflected within yourself and the people you know.

Truth is transformed into power when you dissolve prejudice and make yourself receptive to the world as it really is. Truth's power can be a remarkable force indeed ? yet is rarer than generally imagined. It can be maintained only by cultivating a genuine openness to things as they are ? a willingness to see, rather than merely look.

Whenever your inner life is clouded, your influence in the world is under a shadow. If you are fearful, you will be attacked; if you cloak genuine mysteries in dogma, opportunities for new insight will be lost. If you vacillate in upholding your principles, you will be tested. Yet, when you are firm and strong, the power of truth can break through even the most stubborn minds.

In any debate, the power to perceive the truth in the other side's argument is essential to achieving success. It is possible to influence even the most difficult people, or improve the most difficult circumstance, through the power of universal truth ? for unvarnished truth is something to which all things naturally respond. Get in touch with the part of yourself that is aware of this universal force. Cultivate this inner resource, and you will become adept at using it to bond with others to support a common purpose.

RUNE OF THE DAY

DAGAZ--means daylight, and represents divine light.

This rune generally refers to dawn (the initial sparking of energy) or to midday (the climax of energy). Both dawn and midday are symbolic of change, but unlike the changes in the perpetual circle of the year which are slow and subtle, the changes over a day are much faster and more dramatic. The breaking of a new day is symbolic of the rapid illumination of dismal circumstances, and is suggestive of Satori. Be careful - although this rune generally suggests a positive change, the symbology of a peaking point suggests that there must be a change downward as well. Fortunately for some, this rune is cyclic and irreversible,
and so permanence is not promised - the only thing you can be sure of is an exciting ride.

ELEPHANT counsels that the time has come to accept their love and learn from the wisdom which, like ELEPHANT, they have accrued over a lifetime.

WITCH'S RUNES

Flight

Also called "The Birds", this is a rune of movement and communication. Emails, letters, phone calls, news, unexpected visits... all is symbolized by The Flight.
While the Moon told you, you didn't have enough information to act, the Flight tells you the information is coming - if it's not here already. Now you can make informed choices and change your plans accordingly. It's very common for this rune to represent a change in plans, specially those who happen after we get a piece information that we didn't have. This is also a rune of synchronicity - of receiving the information you need exactly when you need it.

On a physical level, the Flight can represent travel, specially by air. With the Waves rune, it can indicate a journey by water. It also represents visits, both the expected and the unexpected kind. Because of its relation to communication, it can represent discussions, exchange of ideas and team work... but its negative side can stand for gossip, rumors and excessive noise. Mental tension, overstimulation, anxiety and lack of sleep are also part of the Flight's dark side.

This rune shows that the wheels are already moving, and that the situation is not longer stagnated. The Flight can symbolize a sudden freedom, a feeling of being liberated from the burdens of the past. Good ideas and solutions for problems appear. And because this rune is a fast one, it tells you to do it - and do it now. Don't put it off till later, or you may lose the opportunity.

In relationships, the Flight shows that there will be a lot of communication between the people involved. Any form of expression involving words will be at the center of this relationship. However, it can indicate some physical distance between the partners. This rune, usually when combined with the Rings rune, can represent important documents and contracts. It's often a sign that you will receive news from (or about) the person you are interested in.

I-CHING OF THE DAY

60: Limits and Connections

General Meaning:

Limits are necessary to give purpose and direction to life. Swimming in a sea of boundless opportunity would eventually lead to exhaustion and drowning. Winging it alone in a sky of boundless opportunity would lead to being lost. In human affairs, the making of choices, and alliances, implies limitation, for in choosing one path another must be abandoned.

One key to a successful life is to select your limits consciously and carefully ? to be discriminating in the setting of personal boundaries and knowing when to join in formation. Thrift, for example, often precedes prosperity; just as the letting go of selfish interests leads to greater personal reward. Only by consciously accepting useful limits can one's energy be channeled to good purpose, and lead to lasting accomplishments.

Point yourself toward a middle way between discipline and freedom of spirit. Limits will come of their own accord; but to be able to consciously select your own affiliations in life ? that's knowing how to fly! At the same time, don't go overboard with discipline. Even self-correction must be limited, so that in attempting to bring order and direction into your life you do not choke off vital sources of enthusiasm and spontaneity.

Similarly, in groups and partnerships, agreed upon rules or regulations should strike a balance between being too strict and too soft. If too strict, they build frustration and ultimately become destructive. If too lenient, sloppiness becomes acceptable, and positive energy is dissipated. The best path is one that allows for the fulfillment of individual potential, while supporting self-discipline and focus.

THE FAIRY--keyword... MAGIC synchronicity, coincidental, illusionary, fantasy, flights of fancy,
mischievousness, childlike, fae, unconcerned, irresponsible, unattached, breezy, communion with nature, restlessness, boredom, flighty, moving forward without concerns, baggage or cares.

The fairy is tricky. Tricky because ...well, that is within the fairy nature, but also tricky sometimes to see what the meaning is in an interpretation.

The dolphin has that childlike innocence and wonder as part of the meaning,...and, in many ways, so does the fairy. but where the dolphin is ever-present, the fairy is more detached...more alien in nature.

I think of Fairy as something in your life that has always been there, (maybe even something you take for granted) but never completely or fully understood. You just accept that it's not understood...and everything will be fine! They may look and sometimes act human...but you can't expect them to react like humanity. They are different, foreign, alien, magical. Fairies are nature spirits, and guardian angels of the earth. so in many ways, the tree symbol and fairy symbol have similarities in environmental pursuits...though the tree would represent personal ideas on how to save the earth, the fairy would be wider, global ideals...always think bigger when it comes to fairy. It also represents children, childhood, and fairytales. storytellers ...and yes, sometimes liars.

Ideas that are silly, extravagant, and dreams that are extra big, and topped with whipped cream. playing games of pretend...these are all fairy pursuits. Think four of cups with fairy...restlessness, boredom, and a highly intelligent mind.

MOON

Differently from the Sun, the Moon has more subtle powers. While it can represent changes too - after all, the moon changes it face a bit every day - these are usually much slower and long-term than the ones represented by the Sun. It's feminine and passive.

As the rules of the nighttime, the Moon often symbolizes a transition time, in which things are not yet defined or very clear. It may represents lack of information and bad timing - any action done under the influence of the Moon may not go as expected because of that. Just like the moon influences the tides of our planet, it also influences our inner water - our emotions - causing a bit of emotional instability. This often inspires us to act without pondering.

The Moon works with undercurrents, it shows hidden developments or things done in the shadows. All secrets are protected by the Moon, and it its most negative manifestation this rune can stand for lies, deceit and even self-sabotage.

The Moon is also associated with the female cycles, thus it may represent pregnancy, family, roots and ancestors. When the Moon appears, there's a strong need to go back to your roots in order to find comfort and understanding. It often symbolizes that you have to find yourself a safe place to wait, like a newborn in the womb... You have to be patient.

In relationship readings, the Moon can represent a strong sexual attraction (specially with the Romance rune), secret affairs, hidden and contained impulses and secrets. Although it adds strength to the attraction, it does not add speed, so the Moon can often represent that almost unbearable tension that builds between two people during a long period of time. It can also represent a certain instability in the relationship, with moments of closeness and moments of separation.

"I watch for, notice, and trust the signs that heaven continually sends."

This card is a message for you to pay close attention to the signs that come to you in answers to your prayers. these can include a song that you hear, words that you read, a sight that you see, a conversation you overhear, and so forth-the possibilities are unlimited. Signs tend to repeat themselves until you notice them and take some form of action. However, its also possible to notice one the first time it presents itself.

GODDESS ORACLE

GWENHYWFAR--First Lady of Wales.

In Wales, white water waves are called the "Sheep of the mermaid." That mermaid is the goddess Gwenhyfar, who was honored as the first lady of the welsh islands and sea. Some identify Gwenhyfar as the daughter of the first welsh bard, the giant Ogyrvan. in Germany she is called Cuneware, which means "female wisdom". But today most people recognize "Gwenhyfar" as Queen Guinevere, the unhappy consort of King Arthur. Since Gwenhyfar symbolizes the throne of Wales, no king was able to rule without her by his side. It is little wonder that many would be kings attempted to abduct her. They did not understand that it was Gwenhyfar's power that made them sovereign, not some forced romantic involvement. many of these myths worked their way into the Arthurian legend.

"You are a wise ruler of your realm."

I-CHING OF THE DAY

41: Decrease

General Meaning:

Increase and decrease are part of the natural cycle of life. As spiritual author long ago put it, 'To every thing there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.' Like a reservoir that is being used to irrigate the fields, learning to accept a decrease in position or material possessions is part of preparing for increase in the future.

We may live in materialistic times, but there is no disgrace in material decrease, particularly if it represents an investment in future gain ? even if that gain be in the form of one's education or the development of personal character. Likewise, the inner strength that comes from bearing loss can be balanced by a corresponding increase in inner strength and insight ? as in the expression 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.' When letting go of attachment and personal demands leads to a greater simplicity in daily life, good fortune often comes calling. In nature, the lake evaporates to form the clouds that drop the rain that nurtures the surrounding forest. As the forest grows thick, more rain is captured for the lake. Similarly, an 'evaporation' or decrease in one area of your life, may give rise to an eventual increase in another. A loss of responsibility at work can mean more free time; more free time may generate more career options. A period of decrease is not necessarily a bad thing; in fact, it can free the spirit and fill the soul.

Be mindful of the lesson of young lovers: even with a minimum of possessions, feelings of the heart can bring an unsurpassed richness to life. The smallest of actions, if sincere, have value. So remain confident, for a time of decrease may actually bode good fortune, especially if you remain open to that possibility. Let go of frustration, resistance and regret over whatever may be going down at this time. Accept the cycle, and remember what goes down must come up.

MEANING--Being someone who speaks the truth and shatters illusions; being comfortable in ones own skin.
EXPLANATION--The person picking this shell holds no illusions and is comfortable embracing the naked, unembellished truth.

Beaver mates monogamously for life and keeps her offspring safe until the call of the wild bids them leave. Although our lives may be very different, the archetypal family unit still haunts our dreams. Beavers lesson is that you turn longing into reality and transform love into a way of life.

WITCH'S RUNES

The Eye

The eye has always been a powerful symbol for different cultures. Some believe that the soul resides in them, while others think it's possible to curse a person merely by looking at them. Through our eyes we connect and express emotions and thoughts. Thus, this is one of the most powerful runes in the set, emphasizing the importance of any rune close to it.

The Eye symbol is also related to "vision" is all senses, including the physical. This rune can represent our eyes and optic nerves. It can also represent activities such as research, analysis, photography and creative visualization. When it appears, there's an urge to observe, to explore, to understand deeply what is before you. This rune is usually related to sudden realizations. Not necessarily a 'shock' (unless some violent rune is close it, like the Scythe and the Man), but more related to the lifting of veils. Your eyes are suddenly open, and you see things that were unknown to you before. A change of perception and focus in life is to be expected when this rune appears... whatever the situation is, the way you see it will be transformed.

The Eye rune also says that now it's time for you to go after what you want. Your focus is powerful right now, and everything you concentrate on can become successful. This rune often represents a lonely journey towards a goal... it suggests a calling and a connection to something bigger, a sense of purpose. Your path is clear to you now; you know which way to go, even if you don't know where exactly it'll take you.

In a spiritual level, This rune can represent a development of one's psychic skills, or an advancement in one's spiritual path. As you connect yourself to a deeper source, and learn to trust, you gain wisdom and your eyes see far. A higher power seems to be guiding you in times when the Eye appears.

Like the Sun rune, this rune can mean that right now all eyes are on you. But unlike the former symbol, when the Eye appears there's some discomfort related to such attention. It may be excessive and even unwelcome. In fact, this is one of this rune's most negative facets: it may show an invasion of privacy, when someone (or even you) pry into another's life and scrutinize their every move. Beware of flatterers and stalkers. The Eye cautions against obsession and the tendency to spy on other people's affairs.

In a relationship reading, the Eye can symbolize a predestined bond to another person. Note that this does not promise a happy ending, but simply says that this connection is powerful and will be very important in your life. In fact, because the Eye rune is a solitary one, it is possible that the people in relationship cannot be together due to difficult circumstances. Still, your bond that person will transform you. In a negative way, this rune can cautions against invading your partner's personal space or stalking them.

General Meaning:

It is as if spring is approaching. Good times ahead feel inevitable; there is vitality in the air. This is a most auspicious time. Like a snake emerging from hibernation, negative forces are barely stirring and can be effectively controlled. This is a time of hopeful progress, and must be used to best advantage. When approaching good fortune, paying attention to what is happening now earns great dividends. All in all, a clear road lies ahead. Take some action now, for at some point this ripe opportunity for advancement will be reversed. No spring lasts forever. It's wise to stay alert and note the changing seasons and the energy they call for. Spring is the season of new relationships. In the bounty of good times, new bonds form effortlessly. Relationships born in spring can serve well to warm the following autumn and winter.

When I first learned about lithomancy (crystal reading) and drop stone techniques, my teacher used 4 separate stones to represent man, woman, sun and moon...and my litho set still has these as well.

but when I came to creating this oracle, I thought that the sun and man (as well as woman and moon) could be combined easily because of the magical associations were always so similar. So...everything that is the sun, talismantically and astrologically...which encompasses leadership, and using your voice...was combined with all the aggressive male attributes.

WITCH'S RUNES

Waves

This rune is deeply connected to the element of Water. Its most basic meanings are intuition, imagination, mystery and spirituality. It can also represent any journey on water. But those are just the surface meanings of this very complex symbol.

This rune represents a moment in which nothing is solid under your feet. Everything moves, changes and transforms swiftly as the water does, and it may be hard for you have are surety about anything. The Waves show things that happens in the deep waters of our life... Repressed emotions and thoughts are represented by this symbol.

This rune can also symbolize solitude, renounce and sacrifice. When it appears, it's difficult to make choices due to lack of information and uncertainty. But it's not a good time to act anyways. It's time to save energy, and free yourself from certain ideas and habits that are no longer useful. When the Waves appear, you may be more prone to self-delusion, self-sabotage and deception. Do not believe in everything you hear and see during these times. It's hard to be calm and rational when under the influence of the Waves.

But this rune has also positive implications. It can represent a deep connection to all that is deep... to the spiritual world, and to your most deep resources. When you think you have nothing else to give, nothing to hold on to, the Waves reveal a wealth of inner power that can be used to survive the complicated times. These can be the water of your rebirth, or the water that will drown you - all depends on how you react to this situation. In relationship readings, this rune can represent powerful emotions and passions, very difficult to control. One can easily feel carried away by this "flood" . There's a strong spiritual connection behind this relationship, that can be good or bad. The Waves can also show that a relationship is being sabotaged by unclear communication and misunderstandings. Finally, it can represent a relationship in which the partners are separated for some reason, causing tears and feeding certain illusions.

I-CHING OF THE DAY

13: Fellowship

General Meaning:

Fellowship. When communal bonds unite people, great success is possible. But such bonds can develop only when personal interests are subordinated to goals that serve the greater good of all. The broader the basis for action, the greater the benefits that can be achieved. And conversely, the greater the potential good, the more powerful the support behind it. A spirit of cooperation steadies the boat, but it helps to have a beautiful island to row towards.

Learn to respect the strength in diversity, for a community's true power lies not in its numbers, but in the diverse skills and resources of its members. Just as the stoutest walls are reinforced with many different materials, so the strongest groups allow differences to co-exist inside the whole. With a unified group solidly behind you, even difficult enterprises can be attempted without great risk.

The Rings

It's important to make a distinction between the Rings and the next rune, the Romance. One is about circumstances that connect people - the other is about emotions that connect people.

The Rings essentially represents the union of two elements to produce something new. Contracts, agreements, associations, long-term unions, marriage... all this is represented by the Rings rune. Whenever two or more people work together to attain a common goal, this is symbolized by this rune.

While the Rings are a traditional symbol for love connection, the truth is that this rune alone does not  represent this - not very strongly. Marriage for love is something fairly recent in history, after all. but it can represent the union with someone you feel that complements you (or your work) very well. When this run appears, you have the support of a group of people (or the support of the right person). Whatever you do, don't do it alone! Ask for help! Reunions, meetings, parties, family dinners, religious gatherings... all are within the scope of this rune. The Rings also represent any social groups you are a part of. But this rune can also symbolize anything that binds you, whether you like it or not... agreements that limit you, relationships that smother you, groups that impose themselves on you. With more negative runes, the Rings can indicate a confrontation with the enemy and the people who oppose you. When the Scythe is nearby, a traumatic separation is likely. The Rings are also a kind of jewelry, thus they are connected to luxury, expensive cars, beautiful clothing, epicurean meals and opulent places. This rune can suggest that one is being seduced by the superficial, and missing the relevant, the core. On a more harmless level, this rune can represent good taste, fun and group cultural activities such as theaters, museums, shows and cinema.

GODDESS ORACLE

 PELE-Volcano, passion, anger,

The Hawaiians believe in a tempestuous goddess named PELE. PELE rules over all kinds of fire, but especially over lava that flows from erupting volcanoes. Famed for her love affairs as well as her temper, PELE often appears to her worshippers in the guise of a woman as beautiful as the moon. Others say she looks as horrible as a hag, with brown flesh as crumpled as  course lava. Whichever way the goddess chooses to represent herself, all agree about her fiery temperament and her ability tp destroy and create.
The passion of anger has a urgency that can help us better our lives. PELE'S ability to represent herself as either a wrinkled hag or a seductive young woman suggests that inner turmoil  that rage can create in women. It reveals the ugliness and discomfort that women often feel when angered--along with the empowerment that anger can bring. "Be empowered by anger".

This connection can be either formed new or be pre-existing. although in the later it was essentially formed new from a previous existence and carried forward.

I-CHING OF THE DAY

49: Revolutionary Change

 General Meaning:

According to Chinese symbolism, the juxtaposed elements of this hexagram are fire under water. Fire evaporates water, and water puts out fire. Change can cause conflict; conflict brings about change. This hexagram refers to that time in the cycle of human affairs when things need stirring up, and when the hint of dramatic change is in the air. In order to succeed, revolutionary change must be in alignment with certain unchanging laws. The process must begin at the right moment, gather support from a broad base of people, be guided by sincere and capable leadership and ? most important of all ? must address a real need. The strength of the forces of change will always be in proportion to the urgency of the need being championed. This is true whether the revolution is in government, in business, in education or in one's personal affairs. Revolutionary change points to a time when chaos arises from order. It is important to realize that not all  order is good, not all chaos bad. Chaos, in fact, is an integral part of the way of things ? as any parent (and modern science) will confirm. Have the courage to radically change and renew the way you present yourself. In this way, you can summon chaos to your cause, and you will unleash a new power on your behalf. If engaging in a negotiation, change the rules; if composing a piece of music, add the unexpected; if courting a lover, dare to be unconventional. In periods of drought, even wild storms are preferable to yet another sunny day.

BIRD keyword...FREEDOM

Messages, spiritual source, changing perspective, flight, putting thoughts and dreams into action, joy, happiness, movement, meditation, higher realms, dreams, escape, distances, communications, transcendence, the unconscious, intermediary between God & Man, Heaven & Earth

Birds have always been traditional symbols of the Messenger of God...the way to connect to higher thought and higher purpose. Of course...there are a lot of different birds! For this edition I used a Goldfinch because they are always so bright and happy, that I thought they would easily convey the meaning of joy... bright golden yellow sort of like the sun in the tarot...

Birds can also represent omens, and signs. Augury was a traditional method of reading the signs, and telling the future based on the pattern of birds (their flight, their nesting, and their calls) so I suppose another layer to bird's meaning goes into the ability to be aware of the signs around you.

Birds can also represent the dead, souls in heaven, that have passed, guardian angels of sorts.

The interesting think about seeing bird and cat together in a reading or spread...
is that one can represent predator, and the other prey. They often interrelate as Boss(cat) and Employee (bird) in the readings I do.

RUNE OF THE DAY

SOWILO--Guidance.  Honor.
Sowilo represents the Sun:  a source of great energy and guidance.  A symbol of `purity in action` and a symbolic goal to be reached for.   Sowilo fulfills, encourages, and represents that which one should be strived for.

ANIMAL MESSAGES

MOUNTAIN GOAT--Fighting for love or ardent declarations may hide unfaithfulness.
Deep in his body, Mystical Goat fashions bezoar, considered a remedy for disease. As GOAT holds these cures  within, so you hold the remedy for your life's ills. Goat, intensely sexual, maintains a harem and fiercely for his consorts and counsels that even those who strive ardently for your love may not be true. However, defend your present love passionately and thoughtfully, celebrate it with the gift of wild rose, the full Moon seen on a wild night, and it will remain yours forever.

WITCH'S RUNES

The Scythe

This symbol is very familiar to most of people, often associated with harvest and death. In the runes, it is no different. The Scythe is related to endings, sudden separations, final decisions, important changes and danger.

The appearance of this symbol show that there's something in you life you need to bring to end now, before it snowballs into something worse. Usually, the decision that the Scythe forces you to make is one you'd rather escape from... it's a painful and difficult choice. Even though you know (or feel) it's for the best, you'll mourn the fact that it has to happen.

Also, the Scythe is connected to sudden, swift changes that force you to alter completely your plans, strategies and sometimes the very way you see the world. The situation is no longer what it was, your modus operandi no longer works here. Your ideas no longer correspond to the reality. The information you have is no longer accurate, or useful. You need to strain those adaptation muscles and find a way to keep standing while the rug is pulled from under your feet.

Although this rune can represent physical danger, such as accidents or surgeries, many time it refers to sense of foreboding. Something just isn't right... the fear of loss looms large. Trust these feeling and proceed with caution. This rune can also relate to actual death and all related to it: burials, graveyards, inheritances, heirlooms, legacies and things connected to your ancestry.

In relationship readings, the Scythe suggest caution too. It can represent sudden and irresistible attractions, the kind that inspire people to do crazy things. . Obviously, this rune also represent separations, divorce and conflicts, always leaving a sour aftertaste. The strong passion can quickly transform into strong resentment. In its most positive note, this rune can symbolize relationship that completely transform the people involved.

TAROT CARD OF THE DAY (PAGAN CATS)

7 of CUPS--Desires and dreams

(meanings from Aeclectic tarot forum now defunct)

A man sees seven cups floating on a cloud, each with something enticing rising out of it. This is the
"daydream" card. Cups are the suit of emotions, but also fantasies and illusions. It is card where our own dreams and emotions make the situation difficult. Think of a girl who gets asked out by three different boys. Her strong emotions toward each keep her from saying yes or no; instead, she indulges in fantasies of how the dates might go, which not only puts off the decision, but makes it harder.

This is the Seven of Cups where you, the chooser, are given the challenge of getting past mixed emotions and self-deception. It predicts that the querent is or will be faced with choices that emotionally pull them in several directions. Daydreams of what could be will further muddy the waters. Seven, as mentioned, is a number of creativity, and cups are the suit of creative dreamers. Which makes the challenge of this Seven to
rein in that abundance of creativity. To stop it from running wild.

Emotions, too, have to be reined in. The querent needs to concentrate on what they really feel, really want and can realistically imagine getting from each of these choices. The choice must be made not hastily, but soberly and maturely. And definitively.

Once again, the message is to stand fast. Don't let your emotions carry you off into fantasies and daydreams. Stay in reality, focus on making a decision. This card can also indicate a person who is living in dreams, preferring fantasy to reality, or someone lost in "their cups." Meaning using alcohol or drugs to escape reality.

CHANG--Queen of the Moon

Around the world, the moon is associated with numerous objects. The fanciful believe it is made of cheese because of its pocked surface. Others claim to see a face of a man in the moon. In China, the moon is  associated with a celestial white rabbit, who is said to reside there with the goddess Chang O in a  palace built of fragrant cinnamon wood.   Every September, when the full moon is at its most brilliant, the Chinese honor Chang O with a moon festival. This celebration also celebrates women and features family reunions. Besides gathering to admire the moon's luminescent brilliance, people bake special round treats called moon cakes, which are filled with delicious red bean paste. As people eat them they are reminded of Chang O, queen of the moon.

55: Great Abundance

General Meaning:

A time of abundance comes into full flower when the powers of leadership and teamwork are at their peak. The situation is like that of the sun at midday ? a high noon of clarity, insight and progress. Such peak periods can be brief. Whether this refers to a national cycle, a business boom or a period of abundance, it is important to bale your hay while the sun is shining.

During a period of abundance, it benefits one to show benevolence, to share the fruit of one's good fortune. Think of good deeds now as a hedge against times of scarcity in the future. This reading bodes well for expansion in love, the raising of children and the nurturing of a healthy family or any close-knit group.

GODDESS ORACLE

DIANA--Goddess of the hunt. (Woman, the moon, strength)

DIANNA the Roman goddess of hunting and the moon, reveals the physical strength and self reliance of women everywhere. She was praised for her strength and athletic grace; her skill as a huntress was unsurpassed. Independent and wild, DIANNA chose to join her life with no man. Instead, she lived unencumbered in the woods, her only companions a loyal band of nymphs and untamed animals.
DIANNA was associated with the moon, which ruled over the night, wild beasts and women's bodies. She was usually depicted wearing a lunar shaped crown upon her brow. Many of the goddess's rituals encouraged girls and women to join together and dance wildly in the light of the full moon, thus expressing their strength and athleticism.

THE MOON MAIDEN--keyword...AWARENESS

nurturing, female energy, mother, mothering, cycles, ever changing, moodiness, passive, inward feeling, life giving, reflection, flowing, imagination, sensitivity, caution, emotion, imagination, anonymous,  behind the scenes, hidden mysterious, visionary.

The moon maid is everything about the traditional feminine energies, and of the moon itself. it is the opposite of the sun king in her passive rather than active energies...
so if the sun is jumping into things without looking, then the moon maid quietly sits back and sees everything before making decisions.

WITCH'S RUNES

The Star

In many cultures, the Star is a symbol of hope, dreams and destiny, and in the Witches Runes this symbol has a similar connotation. When the Star rune appears, it's green light for you to go after what you want. Note that the Star does not say you'll get everything you want without any work. No. This symbol is a not about easy success, but about having faith in what you are doing - and doing it. In fact, the goals suggested by the Star are usually the highest and most significant ones - the ones that are hardest to get. It does not matter what the dream is, but its significance in your life. This symbol also represents ideals, and they can be both individual and collective ones. In a more down-to-earth way, the Star is related to revolutions, changes, risks, speculation and all things motivated by faith and ideals. It can represent a sudden spark on inspiration, a windfall, a sudden rise to fame or a promotion. Though the sudden changes brought by the Star are usually positive, they are also fast: you can get back to point zero as quickly as you rose. So don't be afraid to jump forward when the opportunity arises. The Star urges you to take the risk, to have hope and to trust. After the staleness of Crossroads, the Universe finally begins to move again. If you believe in Higher Powers, this symbol shows that They are guiding you in this moment. The Star is a very positive rune, but in a more negative context it can represent revolution for revolution's sake and the constant idealization of people and situations. It can also stand for excessive individualism when going after a dream.

In relationship readings, this rune represents hope and an idealistic kind of love. Usually the people involved in the relationship have high expectations about the other. They easily put their partner on a pedestal, only to feel frustrated when reality strikes. The Star can also represent unrequited love, or the love for someone who is unattainable. On the other hand, this rune tells you to not give up love entirely - keep looking, because someone is coming.

22: Grace and Beauty

General Meaning:

A splashy sunset bathes the mountains in a soft radiance; the light of a full moon dances on the surface of a rippling river. Grace and beauty adorn the natural world. Grace is not an all-powerful force, nor is it the essential or fundamental thing. By itself, it is form without content. Grace is moonlight on water, not the sunlight at noon. Yet grace brings artistic expression into the world, and enhances the quality of our lives. In the arts, grace arises out of adherence to form: the dancer becoming the form of the dance, the musician giving life to the form of a musical score, the painter becoming one with the brush and canvas. In human affairs, grace is also aligned with form ? with mastery of aesthetic and cultural patterns honed by time and honored by tradition. Through appreciation of graceful customs in human relationships we apprehend the pure beauty of the ideal, of life raised above the mere struggle for survival. Possession of grace, like the bearing of a beautiful gift to a wedding, can add stature to those in humble positions. Take care to lend grace and dignity even to small happenings, while giving the weight of deep and careful consideration to matters of greater consequence. Though it should not be confused with true substance,  an artistic flair can take one far in this world.
