Astrological Highlights for the week:
Saturn ends a four-month retrograde pattern on Wednesday; Mars strikes a deal with Pluto on Thursday; on Saturday Jupiter and Neptune square for the third and final time (with Jupiter in Sagittarius); Mercury makes an adjustment with Saturn on Sunday.
This is the last week of summer folks! Although with a couple of 90 degree days in the forecast for Denver this week, it?s hard to believe. According to the calendar the Autumnal Equinox with the Sun entering cardinal Libra occurs on Monday September 23rd. We?ll talk about that next week; for now enjoy your last week of the season.
If summer is associated with vacations and playtime, and the fall with going back to school and nose to the grindstone, then the planets may be in agreement. At least Saturn is, as he is finishing a lengthy retrograde period that started in April. Like all of the outer planets (Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) and Jupiter, Saturn retrogrades every year and for months at a time. Consider it somewhat of a forced planning period. The planet of structure and foundation building likes for us to get our ducks all in a row before moving forward again.
When Saturn is retrograde we sometimes feel somewhat stuck or bogged down by routine details and requirements. But never fear; Saturn is our friend and ally when it comes to manifestation. Now that he will be moving forward again, Capricorn natives can rejoice and we all can get back to work on manifesting those intentions and goals!
There is also another cycle coming to a close this week. While Jupiter has been transiting through Sagittarius it has formed squares with Neptune ? once moving direct and once moving retrograde. On Saturday, having finished its annual retrograde in August, Jupiter will make a third and final square to Neptune. I call it a negotiation, because this square energy between the two planets requires a change of plan or adjustment of some sort. Both are feeling very strong in their home signs, Jupiter in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces. They do have a bit of common ground since Jupiter is the traditional ruler of Pisces (before Neptune was identified and assigned to the 12th sign of the zodiac.) This at least is a starting point.
Sagittarius and Pisces are mutable signs - versatile, changeable and adaptable in nature. However, their approach is very different and this mutable quality contributes to this energy being somewhat of a slippery slope. When the two ruling planets square each other, despite our passion, dedication, and devotion to something or someone, we sadly might be lacking in discipline, responsibility, discrimination, and discernment. Like a child lost in a dream we might be overly idealistic, unrealistic, and ungrounded. Our hopes sail high, but will our discipline to follow through make an appearance?
This is a great time for Saturn to finish its retrograde. If you feel like you are motivated, energized and on track, you can skip this section. But if not, here are some suggestions that I think will be in accordance with the cosmic flow.
Before making any important decisions, take a look at your goals and strategies and consider these questions:
1. Goals: are they as valid and relevant as when you first considered them?
2. Do they need to be clarified, revised, expanded, or downsized?
3. What kind of support do you have or will you need?
4. Do you have the necessary resources or know where and how to get them?
5. Are there competing goals or priorities you need to consider, evaluate, include, or delete?
6. Are there tasks, objectives or other priorities that need to be completed before you move forward?
7. Are there other responsibilities that need to be considered? Can these be delegated or taken off your agenda?
8. Are there distractions, fears or worries that you need to deal with?
In this last week of summer, try to complete what?s in front of you before going on. If goals are no longer relevant, take them off your list. Make a plan for dealing with responsibilities and distractions. If possible and appropriate, delegate some of your responsibilities.
Take your time in planning and your actions will be more meaningful, effective and efficient. In Virgo?s last week of service, she can help us tidy up, analyze our next steps, and ground our intentions.
Until next week, let go and wear loose clothes

Moon in Aries
Moon Goes Void of Course 9:02am enters Taurus Tuesday at 3:31am
The week may be off to a slightly bumpy start this morning. With the Moon in assertive Aries, we are ?on a mission? so they say, ready to bulldoze through any obstacles that get in our way. A roadblock or detour provided by the Moon?s square to Pluto is more likely to annoy us rather than make us slow down. But in this case, it?s wise to stop and re-evaluate. We may not be reading the situation correctly. Before you plow through that barrier, you?d better know what?s on the other side.
With the messenger planet Mercury (now in balance-seeking Libra) opposing Chiron in Aries, it?s easy to go on the offense when the situation just calls for a bit of understanding and patience. Instead of acting spontaneously, we depend on what we remember from a previous situation or experience. If it was a negative one, it?s easy to make a mistake assuming the present is the same as the past. Is it? Misdirecting our energy now will put us further behind and/or off track. This is a day to stay alert, double-check our assumptions and interpretations, and decrease our speed. Try not to see trouble where there is none.

September 17
Moon in Aries/Taurus
Void of Course Moon enters Taurus at 3:31am
The Moon slides into earthy Taurus this morning. Ordinarily we get the chance to sleep in, eat leisurely (and deliciously) and generally move at a deliberate and comfortable pace when the Moon moves through sensuous Taurus. However, all this is debatable with revolutionary Uranus inhabiting this sign. It?s a seven year cycle that?s hardly begun, so get used to it! Uranus is not such a bad fellow; he simply sees it as his mission to shake things up. Psychologically he represents our desire and ability to move past limits in our lives. His mantra always includes the words individuality, liberty, and freedom.
And indeed, sticking to routines and traditions without evaluating their value in our lives will not go over very well today. Venus in Libra is opposing Chiron in Aries shaking up our confidence and trust in ourselves and our relationships. Getting into our heads and listening to Mercury will be interesting since he is making an awkward connection to Uranus today. If you are having a hard time figuring out the big picture, there is a good reason; the picture is changing and evolving. Don?t look to the past for the answers.
Although there is truth in the old saying ?Nothing new under the Sun?; it?s still worth our while to admit where our strategies are not working and open up to a different view of things. That won?t be hard to do when the Moon meets up with Uranus in mid-afternoon. Instead of moaning and groaning about things looking and feeling different than usual, embrace the idea that change is a positive energy that will bring good things into your life.
Daily Muse: Tradition is the illusion of permanence. (Woody Allen ? Venus in Libra square Mars in Capricorn and square Pluto in Cancer.)

Moon in Taurus
Saturn moves forward 1:47am
There is a collective sigh of relief today as the Moon?s transit through placid Taurus once again feels familiar and comfortable. The edginess of yesterday seems to have been adequately addressed. Today the Moon finds strength and harmony as she forges a bond between the three Earth signs as she links with Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn and Mars in Virgo. This temporary, but potent Grand Trine in stable Earth, helps us realize our efforts are not in vain. Things may not be handed to us on a silver platter, but turning ideas and dreams into reality is more than possible; it?s probable. We get the nod of approval with the Moon also making a positive connection with Neptune, the planet of dreams.
There is another reason to have faith today; Saturn finishes a lengthy retrograde period that began in April. With Saturn retrograde we may have experienced delays and challenges that left us in a planning period with no end in sight. As the planet of discipline and structure starts moving forward again we begin to see the results of our efforts and feel the momentum of our action picking up. Just like taking the time for cement to cure or a sauce to thicken, our patience will be repaid. Making adjustments for our weaknesses, filling in gaps in our knowledge or experience, and reinforcing our support system and networks will prove to have been time well spent.
Daily Muse: Is there anything better than to be longing for something, when you know it is within reach? (Greta Garbo ? Sun and Mercury in Virgo)
THURSDAY
September 19
Moon in Taurus/Gemini
Moon goes Void of Course at 6:57am Enters Gemini at 1:58pm
We wake up with anticipation and energized as the Moon in determined Taurus finds support in the Sun in pragmatic Virgo. This extends the energy of the Grand Trine in Earth from yesterday, as does a stabilizing connection between Mars in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn.
However, to really build something of importance we may need to re-visit our goal, clarify the nature of the support of our allies, re-inventory our resources and be willing to re-negotiate our priorities. Things may have changed recently! Saturn?s recent completion of its retrograde cycle is a good omen; and yet we still need to have a firm grasp of where we stand at this point.
The Moon?s move to chatty Gemini this afternoon may signal it?s a good time to share your thoughts with trusted friends, gather new ideas, and only if you are brave, solicit advice.
Daily Muse: Thousands of people have talent. I might as well congratulate you for having eyes in your head. The one and only thing that counts is: Do you have staying power? (Noel Coward ? Moon conjunct Pluto in Gemini)

Moon in Gemini
People are talkative today but not necessarily telling the truth. Of course, truth can be a moving target. The Moon in chatty Gemini aligning with Mercury (Gemini?s ruler) increases our need to be heard. With Mercury in Libra we are interested in keeping the peace, scoring points with a partner or with anyone we see as significant in our lives, or maybe we simply want to make someone happy. Nothing wrong with being diplomatic, is there?
Consider this. The Moon is moving steadily toward an opposition with expansive Jupiter in its home sign of Sagittarius. Jupiter resonates with our need to find meaning in life and Sagittarius is often labeled as the truth seeker. The Moon?s opposition highlights the tendency to slant our stories in a direction that pleases ? ourselves or someone else. If we have a picture in our heads, or an expected outcome, it?s pretty natural to select the pieces of information that will reinforce our pre-conceived idea or belief. We may be all too willing to play to a particular bias to get the response we want from our audience even if that audience is just ourselves. This is the basis of business marketing and how we talk ourselves into things.
Tonight the Moon in versatile Gemini is also moving toward a sticky square with Neptune, the planet of illusions. This too might favor wishful thinking or confusion rather than clarity.
For the most part, I?d like to give people the benefit of the doubt. (I?d like to, but do I? that?s sometimes debatable!) We all struggle with what we consider truth and reality. In truth (pun intended) we all live in our own self-designed world with our pet preferences, dreams, denials, and delusions. Who is to say my version is any more real than yours?
On a pragmatic note let?s go back to the first idea for today. People are talkative but not necessarily truthful. The reason for the deception may be harmless, unintentional, and maybe even motivated by affection ? not wanting to hurt feelings. Despite the reason, stay on your toes. Be aware of your own biases, need to prove your point, or be seen in a certain way. Increased self-awareness, even just a small bit, can be a successful outcome for the day.
Daily Muse: Consensus: The process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values, and policies in search of something in which no one believes, but to which no one objects; the process of avoiding the very issues that have to be solved, merely because you cannot get agreement on the way ahead. What great cause would have been fought and won under the banner: ?I stand for consensus???If you just set out to be liked, you will be prepared to compromise on anything at anytime, and would achieve nothing. (Margaret Thatcher ? Sun, Mercury, Mars in Libra square Jupiter in Capricorn and square Pluto in Cancer)
SATURDAY
September 21
Moon in Gemini/Cancer
Moon goes Void of Course at 7:41pm enters Cancer at 9:50pm
We start today a bit off balance when the Moon in Gemini squares the action planet Mars. Maybe we are being pulled in two directions or are seeing only what we want to see. Whether it?s a distraction, or too many irons in the fire, we lack focus first thing this morning.
Nebulous and dreamy Neptune is certainly speaking up this week, or rather, making her presence known. In one way or another, we are ?under the influence.? Today Jupiter and Neptune meet for their third and final negotiation while Jupiter transits its home sign of Sagittarius. I call it a negotiation, because this square energy between the two requires a change of plan or adjustment of some sort. Both are feeling very strong in their home signs, Jupiter in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces. They do have a bit of common ground since Jupiter is the traditional ruler of Pisces (before Neptune was identified and assigned to the sign of imagination.) This at least is a starting point.
With the Moon in Gemini also squaring the Sun in Virgo tonight, a sense of being out of step might continue through the evening. Finding some middle ground between extremes is a perfect place to land. There is a lot of change afoot and we need a bit of time to catch our breath before taking action.
On Thursday we looked at some suggestions that feel right on target for today as well. If you are feeling confused or overwhelmed, before making any important decisions, take another look at your goal. Is it as valid and relevant as when you first considered it? Does it need to be clarified or revised? What kind of support do you have or need? Do you have the necessary resources or know where and how to get them? Are there competing goals or priorities that need to be evaluated and re-considered? This is a great time to complete before going on, or if appropriate delegate responsibility to someone else. Take the time to make a plan and don?t initiate independence if you are not ready to do something on your own.

SUNDAY
September 22
Moon in Cancer
The last day of summer (Autumnal Equinox tomorrow!) starts with a slightly sour energy when Mercury squares Saturn. Sour that is unless you are one of those people who thrive on criticism! For some of us it can be quite motivational ? proving someone wrong or simply rising up to a challenge. Although Saturn, especially in his home sign of Capricorn, can be a wet blanket, he?s a very helpful ally. He lets us know when our thinking is off track and unrealistic. Don?t take it to heart! If today is off to a rough start try your best to see the seed of truth, the silver lining in the cloud.
The Moon entered her emotional and sensitive home sign of Cancer last night. This morning her clever connection to Uranus might help find an unexpected response to Saturn?s square to Mercury. However, when the Moon squares Venus this afternoon and opposes Saturn tonight we might be feeling defensive. Friends and family might be acting more like prickly pears rather than trusted allies.
One way to navigate successfully through the day is to keep busy with activities that are important. Don?t wait for someone to pitch in or offer to help, and avoid judging others if they have their own priorities. You may have to do some juggling today as your own priorities or circumstances change. Be ready to flex and go with the flow; and make sure you take care of yourself. And if all else fails, remember the basics ? we all need to be nurtured and cared for which means great food, right?
