Monday December 9th through Sunday December 15th

Astrological Highlights for the week: Mercury enters philosophical Sagittarius on Monday; Full Moon in Gemini on Wednesday evening; Venus gets serious with both Saturn and Pluto (Wednesday and Friday); and Jupiter and Uranus whoop it up together on Sunday.

The idea of storytelling is big this week. Mercury the communicator enters sunny, philosophical Sagittarius. With the Sun also in this optimistic and hopeful fire sign, the Full Moon on Wednesday night is in Gemini (ruled by Mercury.) Sometimes you just have to smile at the synchronicities!

Because of the recent retrograde pattern, Mercury spent an extended time in Scorpio. I?m sure we are all ready to take stock of the lessons learned and move on. Optimistic Sagittarius is the perfect answer to the psychological depth of Scorpio contemplation. However, Mercury in Sagittarius is not so unlike his Scorpio neighbor. This placement of Mercury also wants to know everything. A superficial understanding of something that piques are interest just won?t do. Mercury in Sagittarius is inspirational, buoyant, and a natural storyteller. This quality can come in quite handy at holiday parties and gatherings.

Mercury in Sagittarius is an insatiable learner and loves to share information too. Mercury in this expansive fire sign enjoys seeing the big picture and understanding how all the pieces of the puzzle fit together. This is the sign of the philosopher as Mercury collects the bits and pieces and delights in speculating about the many interconnections and the overall meaning. One possible shadow is the tendency to be somewhat of an evangelist sharing opinions but then being intolerant of views or people who don?t see life the same way. Well, nobody?s perfect. Overall, this is an optimistic and inspiring placement for Mercury. It?s a fun time to expand our horizons through learning something from others, and participating in lively verbal exchanges.

The contrasting aspects of Mercury-ruled Gemini and Sagittarius come strongly into focus on Wednesday night with the Full Moon at 20 Gemini. But these two opposing signs also have some shared values including the importance of education and communication. Astrologer Raven Kaldera calls the Full Moon in Gemini the ?Storyteller?. This moniker describes well our attraction to hearing and telling stories. Modern day TV and movies are an evolution of time spent telling tales around the campfires of our ancestors. Theatrical productions have been popular and in demand since the beginning of time, or at least the beginning of verbal communication and language. You didn?t think drama was original with your family did you?

This Full Moon highlights the benefit of focusing on both the big picture and the details of our own personal stories. When we think of our lives as a story or play, how do we portray our parts? Are we the heroes or the victims or both? Is our life story a comedy or tragedy or a combination? Are the stories we tell ourselves different from the ones we tell others? Why? What criteria do we use for deciding what scenes stay in and what ends up on the cutting room floor? I?m a big fan of editing! I may not be able to control all the plot twists, but I can certainly influence the interpretation and the spin.

This Full Moon is likely to be very revealing and carry lots of messages. Some may be conflicting and others somewhat mysterious. The Sun in Sagittarius encourages us to keep pushing the boundaries of our beliefs and evolving the big picture. When a message or piece doesn?t seem to fit our picture we have a choice ? discard the new information as a bad fit, or expand/revise the picture. We do this automatically every day of our lives; however the light of this Full Moon will bring the need to do so into sharper focus.

Also in sharper focus this week are all things having to do with our values ? think love and money. Venus in Capricorn gets serious and even profound with Saturn (Wednesday) and Pluto (Friday). This is pretty much an annual event when Venus meets up with each of these planets. When she does, the rubber meets the road. Saturn asks about our purpose and asks for a commitment. No-nonsense Pluto is even more ruthless; no excuses just action will be acceptable.

If you suddenly feel the need to make some decisions, or New Year?s Resolutions, you are tuned into the cosmic energy. Might as well start early! And heads up there is a New Moon Solar Eclipse on Christmas Day with a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse the 2nd week of January. We will definitely hit the ground running in 2020. This is a great week to work towards more clarity about what?s important in your life. What do you want to keep and what needs to go. What is the theme of your personal story? Don?t ever forget; you really are the scriptwriter and have more control than you believe possible.

Until next week, let go and wear loose clothes.

MONDAY
December 9

Moon in Taurus

Moon goes Void of Course 5:12pm enters Gemini Tuesday 8:47am

Mercury enters Sagittarius 1:42am

The Moon in practical and hard-working Taurus is ready to step up and be recognized with favorable aspects to four planets today. We are not shy about taking credit for our achievements; or at least, we shouldn?t be. We don?t have to be arrogant or bigheaded in order to be proud of our ideas and accomplishments. In fact, being confident in our choices and actions can be inspiring and empowering to others.

Working a plan should be easy as long as we take the reins. Don?t be tempted to sit on the sidelines. If you are involved in a team effort, do your part to contribute to the overall success of the task or project. And when the work is done; reward yourself with a pat on the back. Taurus is quite the foodie and aficionado of sensual pleasures too, so don?t be timid about taking care of your physical needs.

Now for something different. Mercury the messenger, the planet associated with the mind ? how we think and communicate ? is entering Sagittarius. Daily Muse: To ensure that your life is a grand entertainment, you needn't do anything drastic. You needn't be gorgeous or wealthy or smart; just very enthusiastic! (Bette Midler ? Mercury in Sagittarius)

TUESDAY
December 10

Moon in Taurus/Gemini

Void of Course Moon enters Gemini at 8:47am

The Moon dashes into chatty Gemini in early morning promising this will be a day filled with verbal exchanges and communications. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, which just moved into Gemini?s opposite sign (Sagittarius) yesterday. This could put a slight crimp in our style, but only if we are prone to exaggeration or inaccuracy. Today?s energy calls for more precise communication. Like editors we need to pay attention to our conversations and communications. Who is our audience? What is our purpose?

This is not so much about what?s true or false; it?s about getting across your point as clearly and effectively as possible. Do we say too much or too little? Do we add details or ideas that are counterproductive to our goal or message? For best results, stop and think before you talk, text, tweet, or e-mail.

Gemini Moons are usually great times for social interactions and activities, and this evening is no exception. But do keep in mind, Venus the planet of love and values has a date with Saturn, the planet of discipline a couple hours after midnight (Pacific Time). As Venus approaches this tryst, this evening?s conversations are likely to turn more serious in nature. When these two planets rendezvous, commitments and responsibilities are being debated and discussed. A proposal ? marriage or other partnership, or even the termination of a relationship ? could be on the table. Are you ready to dedicate yourself to someone or something? The pressure is on; but don?t rush into anything that doesn?t feel like joy from the get-go. It?s very likely some details still need to be considered or worked out. Tomorrow?s Full Moon in Gemini could provide the desired information and reveal our true feelings.

Daily Muse: My advisors were a little worried about the new rap entrance music ? they?re a little more traditional. They suggested I start with some jokes at my own expense ? just to take myself down a peg. I was like, ?guys, guys, after four and a half years, how many pegs are there left?? (Barack Obama ? Moon in Gemini)

WENSDAY
December 11

Full Moon 20?Gemini 9:12pm

Moon Goes Void of Course at 9:12pm enters Cancer Thursday 3:23pm

We need to be on our proverbial toes today and be willing to adapt to changing circumstances or demands. The Gemini Moon is the sign of the twins after all! Once again communications may roll off our tongues or off our fingertips, but are best when we give them a little thought first. With a little care we can avoid those embarrassing situations, for example, sending that snarky e-mail ?reply to all? when you really meant it for one particular person! This is especially true mid-afternoon when the Moon squares nebulous Neptune. Communications can definitely be misunderstood and feelings inflamed. But likewise, we might appeal to the compassionate and creative aspects of Neptune to find balance with others.

The contrasting aspects of Gemini and Sagittarius come strongly into focus tonight with the Full Moon at 20 Gemini. I may not be able to control all the plot twists, but I can certainly influence the interpretation!

The opposition of the Sun and Moon in late evening is the last connection the Gemini Moon will make with other planets. As this Moon goes void of course until tomorrow afternoon, we are left to more clearly examine whatever story we see before us.

Daily Muse: Through books and photographs, I saw a world that was not my own - and I realized that there was another world. That's why I'm concerned about education; because it helps our children see other worlds. (Bette Midler ? Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius ? Uranus in Gemini)

THURSDAY
December 12

Moon in Gemini/Cancer

Void of Course enters Cancer at 3:23pm

We may feel somewhat adrift today with the Moon moving void of course in Gemini. The phrase TMI (too much information) comes to mind. Possibly we are inundated with details that only serve to distract instead of clarify.

Years ago I took an important examination; at least it was important to me at the time. The three-hour test included at least one hundred questions, many of which were ?story problems.? One question took up almost an entire page of narrative offering an extraordinary storyline complete with a multitude of details. After reading the complete sequence, fortunately, I realized the key to the correct answer was in the first two sentences. All the rest was nothing more than interesting subterfuge.

I still remember this experience because it?s very much like how we experience life. Sometimes the answers are staring us in the face ? or in the heart ? and we continue to go off on tangents or get distracted by unnecessary complications. This morning and early afternoon may be just such a case. Only look at the complexities if it?s entertaining. If it?s answers you want, they are most likely simple and unassuming messages that refuse to go away.

In late afternoon the Moon enters nurturing Cancer. But don?t expect emotions to settle; if anything the shift from mental Gemini to emotional Cancer will allow anything we have been denying or shutting off to come forward. As always, treat emotions with a gentle but light approach. They are transient and often unpredictable. They carry important messages but are often fickle. Tonight when the Moon connects with Uranus, something unexpected might be a welcome surprise. Comfort and nurturing comes from both familiar and unfamiliar places.

Be aware Mars the planet of action and motivation, currently in the emotionally intense sign of Scorpio is moving toward a positive connection with Neptune in its home sign of Pisces. There is power in emotion! Intuition grows and inspires action. The connection isn?t perfect until early Friday morning, but its influence is palpable this evening.

Daily Muse: Because I have known despair, I value hope. Because I have tasted frustration, I value fulfillment. Because I have been lonely, I value love. (Leonard Nimoy ? four planets in Cancer including the Moon.)

FRIDAY
December 13

Moon in Cancer

We wake up energized and inspired this morning riding on the waves of Mars? alignment with Neptune in the early morning hours. A dream or goal is infused with new hope and we?re not waiting another minute to take the first step or to reach towards a significant mile marker in the process. As Venus also makes an important connection to no-nonsense Pluto today, the way seems clear. And even if it doesn?t, we are motivated to move through any delays and obstacles to get what we want.

This is a day of increasing clarity especially thanks to the combustion of Venus meeting Pluto. Whether it?s a relationship, a financial decision, or another life choice, we are ready to put aside the distractions and power ahead toward the goal we find valuable. Our motivation might be partially fueled by the pain of a past disappointment or emotional wound. Nothing wrong with that, especially if our desire is to correct a mistake, or pick ourselves up and try a new path. This energy is about using our past experience in positive ways to move forward. It?s important to bring forth the wisdom from lessons learned and forget the judgment and resentment.

Tonight we draw strength from a Grand Trine in water as the Moon in assertive Cancer makes positive connections to both Neptune and Mars. This energy is creative and compassionate as well as emotionally powerful. A celebration dinner might be in the works and maybe even an announcement concerning future plans.

Daily Muse: I don't consider myself to be a major talent, so the only solace I can take is to hope I'm growing. (Paul Simon ? Moon in Cancer)

SATURDAY
December 14

Moon in Cancer/Leo

The Moon goes Void of Course at 7:57am, enters Leo at 7:56pm

No matter how motivated or organized we are, we seem to be treading water early this morning with the Moon in Cancer being opposed by three planets in Capricorn - Saturn, Pluto, and Venus. Fortunately these aspects all occur early so we may be able to move beyond the initial delays and frustrations as the day continues. However, the Moon is also void of course all day which could also give us a feeling of not making any progress.

There are a couple of things to watch out for. First, double check your intentions and your direction. Moving quickly is of little use if you are not moving toward your goal. Taking a wrong turn or rushing is most likely going to be a mistake rather than saving time. You?d be better off slowing down and reassessing than going off head strong and realizing you?ve made a mistake you will have to rectify later.

Secondly, double check your resources. A temporary lack may not spell doom and gloom and can most likely be easily remedied. This could be as simple as being out of chocolate chips for the Holiday treats you are planning to whip up, or finding you are short on helpers, or limited on cash to buy something you need. No matter what the challenge, the pieces just don?t seem to be falling together as planned this morning.

Keep a stiff upper lip (whatever that means, lol) and carry on. But don?t make a problem bigger than it really is or deny its potential influence. Stop what you are doing and go get those chocolate chips! Or maybe rearrange your schedule and plan the ?baking? for another day when your helpers are available and your pocketbook and kitchen are re-stocked. Obviously we are talking more than just baking. Whatever the challenge, you are up to meeting it with flexibility and a smile.

Tonight things are looking up with the Moon moving into playful Leo.

Daily Muse: I didn't care what, how much adversity life threw at me. I intended to get to the top. (Ted Turner ? Mercury in Sagittarius, Saturn in Aries, Pluto in Leo)

SUNDAY
December 15

Moon in Leo

We are feeling a bit more stable today, but don?t get too cocky. There is a youthful energy to the Moon in Leo that is ambitious but just a bit na?ve. This morning a powerful connection between Jupiter in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus could sweep us off our feet, literally. Despite the fact both signs are grounded in earth, I have a feeling this energy will nevertheless be impulsive and maybe even reckless. Explore ideas and let them expand while avoiding being spontaneous to the point of being careless or irresponsible. Worthwhile ideas will take time to develop. Take a breath and read that last line again. It?s possible the big lotto win is yours, but it?s more likely a methodical approach to a good idea will be the winning ticket. But then again, are you feeling lucky?

The Moon?s alignment with Mercury this afternoon is a good foundation for fun and games or something more serious.

Daily Muse: My importance to the world is relatively small. On the other hand, my importance to myself is tremendous. I am all I have to work with, to play with, to suffer and to enjoy. It is not the eyes of others that I am wary of, but of my own. I do not intend to let myself down more than I can possibly help, and I find that the fewer illusions I have about myself or the world around me, the better company I am for myself. (Noel Coward ? Sun, Mercury, Chiron, Saturn, Uranus and North Node in Sagittarius ? Moon, Neptune and Pluto in Gemini)
