THE WEEK AHEAD

MONDAY NOVEMBER 7TH THROUGH SUNDAY NOVEMBER 13TH
Despite my overwhelming number of planets in brash fire and provocative air signs, my Sun is in dreamy and utopian Pisces. I am an idealist underneath it all. Each year I hope against hope Hallmark, Lifetime, or someone will come out with a truly inspiring, surprising, and unique holiday movie. Alas, most of the plethora of holiday offerings feel like junk food for the soul and mind. It?s particularly depressing and boring watching the predictable script unfold with the good-looking and charming man from the monster corporation attempting to destroy the farm, ranch, cranberry bog, ski resort, winter chalet, chocolate factory, or shop around the corner that has been in the beautiful heroine?s family for 100 years.

In less than 10 minutes most of us can accurately predict exactly how the story will unfold. There is an attraction, they are falling in love. Sixty-minutes into the two-hour saga, the terrible truth is revealed. One or both feel deceived, misunderstood, and maligned. Just once, I?d love the two of them to refuse to go through the trauma and simply talk to each other and figure things out. Of course, that is not what most people consider the winning formula for stories, movies, or human interaction. We seem to thrive on drama and resistance. Most of us would consider the story boring if there were no challenges, no problems to be resolved, no herculean miracle to come to the rescue.

If it?s drama we crave or the chance to strengthen our inner character, we won?t need superficial stories and movies to be the catalyst. We will be living our own real-life dramatic adventure this week with the cosmos providing more than enough opportunities for even the most picky or discerning taste. The setup is multiple planets in probing, cathartic, and intense Scorpio (Sun, Mercury, Venus, and South Node of the Moon). In direct opposition sits radical and provocative Uranus with the North Node of the Moon in Taurus. Saturn in Aquarius provides additional stimulation by squaring both the Scorpio and Taurus planets and nodes. Astrologically this is a T-square in three of the Fixed signs (Aquarius, Taurus, and Scorpio). Only the Leo lions are missing, but energetically you may be influenced just as much as your Fixed sign soul mates. In baseball jargon, the bases are loaded. Any action at home plate or on any of the bases sets a series of necessary adjustments and changes all the way around.

The fuse that activates this dynamic and volatile energy is the Moon which moves into Taurus late Sunday evening (11/6). By early Tuesday morning, (3:02 PST) the Moon will be at 16 Taurus in direct opposition to the Sun creating November?s Full Moon. The energy factor is amped up with this Full Moon also being a Total Lunar Eclipse.

It is likely to be an emotional roller-coaster not only on Tuesday but for most of this week and beyond. Beginning at 2:43 am (PDT) on Tuesday morning and extending through late Tuesday evening the Moon will be required to do balancing acts as it opposes, Mercury, the Sun, and Venus. We will be stimulated by a provocative lunar joining with Uranus and urged to consider important and possibly profound changes as the Moon squares Saturn. (The Sun is not in a perfect square to Saturn until early Friday morning.) And, oh, by the way, because the Moon is so quickly moving, before the day is through, Luna will make harmonizing connections with Neptune and Pluto tapping into feeling things from a higher and more collective perspective and helping us accept the inevitable.

Because of the clustering of so many planets, the Sun will also join with Mercury Tuesday morning and oppose Uranus just shortly after midnight (technically Wednesday morning). The pattern also includes an opposition between thinking Mercury and rebellious Uranus on Tuesday evening. It boggles the mind! One day is not nearly enough time to assimilate this energy.

Rather than even attempt to separate and explain the individual energies, here is my collective take on this week and specifically some of the messages for the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse. It?s going to be wild, at least on an emotional level. Don?t expect things to be fair, equitable, reasonable, or static. Be aware of your feelings and schedule regular breaks and time outs to ponder what you are thinking and feeling, especially if things are chaotic around you. Attend to the necessary details of life even if they seem trivial or insignificant. Eat, stay hydrated, show up for work, and handle your responsibilities. Although it may not seem like it now, the chocolate factory will be saved! It may change form and management; in fact we can expect nothing less than transformation with the spirit of Scorpio so involved.

Try to stay in touch with changing feelings without the need to be excessively expressive or have other people approve of you. Aim for self-determination. There are times when abiding by social courtesies and expectations is the best route. Consider the power of self-control. When in doubt play it safe and stick with simple heart-felt actions and emotional expression. Be conscientious of your goals while knowing this is a time for patient and slow cultivation of your path. Respecting the changing pace of Mars retrograde will empower our decisions and choices along the way. Aspire to be calm, adaptable, and humble.

During complicated times ? the Chinese would say ?interesting?, it sometimes helps to simplify. If there is a motto or mantra for this week, it might be ?Cooperation.? Move beyond your fears about the future or your inadequacy to rise to the occasion. Offer yourself and your best in cooperative and collaborative efforts focusing on the greater good and shared interests.

Planets Changing Signs this Week: None

Retrograding Planets ? Mars, Jupiter, Neptune, and Uranus, and the asteroid, Chiron

Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse ? Tuesday, November 8, at 3:02 am (PST). One website I consulted indicated the Eclipse will begin at 1:10 am (PST) and end at approximately 4:49 am. The time the Moon is expected to be totally eclipsed is from 2:17 am (PST) to 3:42 am (PST). Check your local listings for viewing recommendations.

Until next week, let go and wear loose clothes.

MOON IN TAURUS

There are no major connections between planets today and the Moon is in placid and stoic Taurus. We might be lulled by superficial appearances into thinking nothing is going on. Most people will not be so easily fooled. Some big events are brewing, and if there is a lull today, it is the quiet before the storm.

The Moon in Taurus is quickly moving toward its destiny early tomorrow morning where it will be totally eclipsed in the Earth?s shadow as it moves into a perfect opposition with the Sun in Scorpio. In this day leading up to the Full Moon event, the idea of balance is weighing on our hearts and minds. How to live a balanced life ? matching our values, beliefs, and ideas with our actions. Creating balance in our relationships and interactions keeps coming to mind. We may be acutely aware of a tipping point and how easy it is to lose our way when we focus only on personal and selfish interests. Let?s not make cooperation a last resort when all else has failed. Balancing our interests with those of others can be a priority if we choose.

Although various situations and issues may ignite our passions today, we?ll be better off taking things more slowly than we think is necessary and seeking moderation instead of extremes. Don?t lose sight of the fact Mars, the planet of action is moving retrograde, and actions that seem warranted may in retrospect, feel risky, premature, or even immature. Unless you are an expert at pulling back from the precipice, use caution and patience today to avoid having to clean up a mess later.

Daily Muse: The neutral observer is your ?higher self? which naturally adjusts your behavior. Non-judgmental self-awareness is the light but controlling hand that you have on yourself. (James Wanless ? Sun in Taurus)

FULL MOON ECLIPSE IN 16? TAURUS 3:02AM

The Cosmos has lots in store for us today. Twists, turns, and fireworks are on the agenda and the action starts early with the Full Moon, Total Lunar Eclipse at 3:02 am (PST). The picture is simple, yet complicated and certainly multi-layered and faceted. Multiple planets are in Scorpio the sign of death, rebirth, and transformation (Sun, Mercury, Venus, and South Node of the Moon). We are feeling introspective and highly emotional. The Moon, Uranus, and North Node of the Moon in Taurus demand we balance intensity with patience, awareness, and boundaries. Mars also moving retrograde indicates this is the time for gradual and calculated change, although it probably is going to feel urgent and pressing.

It is likely to be an emotional roller-coaster of a day. Starting at 2:43 am (PDT) and extending through late Tuesday evening the Moon will be required to do balancing acts as it opposes, Mercury, the Sun, and Venus.

Because of the clustering of so many planets, the Sun will also join with Mercury this morning and Mercury will oppose Uranus this evening. Shortly after midnight, the Sun will also oppose Uranus. It boggles the mind! The Sun?s conjunction with Mercury helps us understand our own feelings, thoughts, and desires more clearly; and we will be invested in our thoughts and opinions seeing them as integral to our value. The Sun and Mercury?s opposition to Uranus provide inspiration and stimulation about how to break out of stale and unfulfilling roles and situations in our lives. It can also spark disagreements, edginess, and a desire to make quick and possibly risky decisions. Be prepared.

Be aware of your feelings and schedule regular breaks and time outs. Ponder what you are thinking and feeling, especially if things are chaotic around you. Attend to the necessary details of life even if they seem trivial or insignificant. Eat, stay hydrated, show up for work, and handle your responsibilities. Focus on being calm, adaptable, humble, and cooperative. Be conscientious about what?s right in front of you.

Full Moons bring things to fruition and eventually light to the end of a path. Lunar Eclipses help us know which chapters to close and how to see the beginnings of new ones. People often report Eclipses seem to jump start changes or bring unexpected clarity and insight. Instead of using time to battle with others, spend this time, today, this week and beyond to develop long-range goals and a firm inner vision of who you are and what you want.

Daily Muse: I may walk slowly but I never walk backward. (Abraham Lincoln)

MOON IN TAURUS/GEMINI
THE MOON GOES VOID OF COURSE AT 4:00A, ENTERS GEMINI AT 5:37AM

Emotions and passions are still running high today. Some of yesterday?s planetary interactions will continue to unfold and influence in the days and weeks to come. Shortly after midnight the Scorpio Sun made a perfect opposition to Uranus in Taurus. No doubt traces of this discontent will be an influence today. Try to recognize that disappointment and dissatisfaction, like anger can be powerful motivators for change.

Although few of us are conscious of it, throughout our day we respond to body cues telling us we have stood or sat in the same position for too long. We may subtly shift our weight from one leg to the other or make slight adjustments in our chair. Without these routine reminders and slight adjustments our circulation would be negatively impacted creating havoc on the general well-being of our physical bodies. We don?t judge these cues and we don?t need to judge psychological prompts telling us it?s time to change or move. Don?t judge discontentment ? listen to it.

In the early morning the Moon leaves sensual Taurus for mental Gemini. This storytelling energy may help us start sorting through the pieces of our recent experience and encourage us to arrange them into new patterns. Today we may be more eager to talk about our ideas and what we are feeling. However, don?t get too hung up on finding agreement with others. Mercury in Scorpio is moving steadily toward a perfect square with Saturn in progressive Aquarius. We may have difficulty finding common ground with others but there is another important message here. Don?t get stuck in your own idea or story. Organized Saturn can pick it apart and find the holes in our logic. In the spirit of moving forward, be willing to listen to alternative theories and ideas and change your mind.

Daily Muse: Along the way, I?ve tried not to make the same mistake twice, to learn, to adapt, and to pray for the wisdom to make better choices in the future. (Hillary Rodham Clinton ? Mercury retrograding in Scorpio square Saturn in Leo)

MOON IN GEMINI

Today the cosmos offers the much needed emotional and psychological break we need from the intensity of recent events. Before dawn a compassionate connection between Venus in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces ushers in a wave of empathy and sensitivity that can extend through us to others. As the channel, we most certainly get the benefit too! If we release our defenses, we can appreciate strengths and weaknesses without acceptance in place of judgment.

An early morning lunar sextile to Chiron in Aries energizes our spirits building on the theme of releasing judgment. This is a good day to get outside into the sunshine, or to appreciate whatever natural conditions surround us. Ground yourself with a connection to mother nature or possibly relating to wildlife or one or more pet animals. (My father feeds wild Quail and yesterday two came up to the large picture window and repeatedly knocked on the glass until he came out with the seed.) Find your connection in whatever moves you. It might be a sunrise or sunset, or a crisp fall breeze.

The final major aspect of the day occurs this evening when the Gemini Moon forms a strong and harmonizing connection with Saturn. This can help stabilize our emotions by identifying with routines and behaviors that bring organization and familiarity into our lives. This is helpful as Friday brings more emotional and psychological waves including the Sun?s square with Saturn right after midnight (12:04 am PST Friday morning).

Daily Muse: Work hard, do the best you can, don't ever lose faith in yourself and take no notice of what other people say about you?Entering a white tie and tails party wearing an ordinary suit, he announced, ?Please, I don't want anyone to apologize for over dressing.? (Noel Coward ? Moon in Gemini conjunct Pluto and opposing Uranus)

MOON IN GEMINI/CANCER
VETERAN?S DAY
THE MOON GOES VOID OF COURSE 2:28PM, ENTERS CANCER 4:22PM

We are still feeling the repercussions of earlier storms with some new twists today. Just minutes after midnight, the Scorpio Sun moved into its perfect square with Saturn. It?s a stretch to keep our self-confidence buoyant in the face of internal or external conditions. We sometimes become acutely aware of restrictions and limitations that feel overwhelming. A usual response is to withdraw and become overly serious in the face of things we can?t control. A better tactic might be to encourage enthusiasm and optimism and not take things personally. This aspect perfects at the very beginning of the day and will start losing influence throughout the day and coming days. Nevertheless, we might wake up feeling somewhat burdened or weighed down.

Like yesterday, we can use these feelings as motivation to make changes that will lighten our load or streamline our responsibilities. An early morning lunar conjunction with retrograding Mars can reinforce the need to slow down and be methodical instead of moving ahead thoughtlessly. Mid-afternoon, another sign we need to heed the call to rearrange priorities comes with a lunar square to Jupiter. We may feel like there is just not enough time and too many things to do.

There is a fix for this although nobody claims it is going to be easy. Venus in Scorpio is making one of those uncomfortable inconjunct connections with retrograding Mars this afternoon. It will take more than a few minutes or a superficial assessment to find a satisfying solution. Venus is intense in Scorpio and the connection to Mars, especially with the later retrograding means we will need to go through a process of revision. Maybe try some things out, rearrange our schedules and change how much time and effort we are placing on our various priorities. The first attempt may not be the answer. Expect to revise your first attempt at simplifying. This can also make relationships a bit testy today. If we don?t feel settled within ourselves, it?s even harder to find harmony with someone else.

In late afternoon the Moon heads for her home sign of Cancer. Nurture yourself and seek comfort at home and with a trusted soul group.  The Moon is still relatively full, and nothing is more lunar than a Cancer Moon near its peak. It?s like high tide on the seashore ? powerful and changing.

Daily Muse: Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear. (Franklin D. Roosevelt ? Sun in Aquarius square Saturn in Taurus)

MOON IN CANCER

Today should be another opportunity to take an emotional break from the chaos and intensity we call life. The Moon in domestic Cancer is in the dissemination phase and we are open to focusing on others and how we can bring comfort to their lives. One of the best ways to quit obsessing about our own issues is to help someone else. Mercury in Scorpio is forming an empathetic and compassionate trine to Neptune in Pisces mid-morning. We are willing to use our words and voices to share inspiration and encouragement.

In late afternoon Luna squares Chiron in Aries. Although this could initially bring up a fear of being inadequate, we can quickly move past it when we focus on the bigger picture and refuse to indulge in negativity or self-judgment.

Relationships feel stronger and more supportive and dependable this evening with Venus in Scorpio moving toward a harmonizing sextile with Pluto. It?s not perfect until after midnight (1:40 am PST) but we receive the kindly benefits leading up to this connection.

Daily Muse: I think the purpose of a piece of music is significant when it actually lives in somebody else. A composer puts down a code, and a performer can activate the code in somebody else. Once it lives in somebody else, it can live in others as well. (Yo-Yo Ma ? Moon in Cancer)

MOON IN CANCER

Venus in Scorpio makes a stabilizing connection to Pluto shortly after midnight. This influence which is generally serious and mature stays with us throughout the day. The Moon in sensitive and tender Cancer makes mostly harmonizing and supportive connections today. But first, we may need to get over a sharp word or misunderstanding this morning. Mercury in complex Scorpio forms an irritable inconjunct with retrograding Mars in quick-speaking Gemini.

Unfortunately, our verbal observations may be piercing and disturbing regardless of whether they are true or not. If there is ever a time to think before you speak it?s now. If we just let it rip, we may create an emotional chasm that is hard to bridge or repair. Because of the signs involved there is a distinct possibility we disguise our criticism as just wanting to be helpful and honest. If we examine our motives, we may find less admirable and loving. Even if our intentions are not double-minded, it?s still possible an unkind word hurts a loved one or increases tension in our lives. Was it worth expressing?

We can probably smooth things over this afternoon with the Moon making a trine to forgiving Neptune and trining Mercury this evening. We hit another bump in late evening as the Moon opposes Pluto. Somethings are not under our control and cannot be changed. However, the Moon?s sweet connection to Venus late night helps us gain a more loving and balanced perspective.

If we are feeling a bit ornery or disconnected from friends and loved ones or with the world in general look inward. Before connecting with others in a loving way, we need to be able to feel connected to ourselves ? an inner voice or higher self. If we feel adrift, all our relationships will be influenced.

Daily Muse: I still don't know if I'm good enough or if it's a calling or a vocation or something, but the talent part is out. My desire to do it is undoubted. I just love doing this. (Chris Isaak ? Venus trine Pluto)
