The book was AWESOME, I loved it.
But the movie.. Well, I must say I was terribly disappointed.
Here's why: the movie was a very watered down version of the book.
They changed major - MAJOR points in the movie. For instance: Robert Langdon in the book already knew the professor's theory on Mary Magdaline being the holy grail. Not only that in the book Langdon was in agreement.
In the movie it seemed Landon was as clueless as Sophie about it. Which is ridiculous.
Also... the ENDING.... PUH - LEEZE... they TOTALLY screwed up the ending!!!!! Along with almost every other important detail in the book, they altered and or changed completely. I normally love Tom Hanks, but he looked unhealthy and fat and sweaty in this movie. Not at all the Robert Langdon in the book who was suave, and handsome and smart.
I almost always hate movies made from books I've read though. Because I'm a stickler for details. Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice was a great book. But the movie.. Oh man.. don't get me started!!! If you haven't read the book that is a good movie at least in parts. But, when you've read the Vampire series..and see that movie it's pure sacrelidge.
When they change something important it upsets me.
The only movies I thought were decent representations of the books are
Lord of the Rings and the Harry Potter series.
Yes there are changes from the books.. but not major ones. The story is still recognizable.
DaVinci Code - the movie was a total screw up in my opinion.
I thought little Opie Taylor would have done a much better job directing this movie.. but sadly...I didn't think so.
Thank You Lady Elaine for getting my blood pumping this morning.. LOL
