Assimilation After Contemplation
Written by Misty-Eve
Saturday, 21 July 2007
I went to another lovely party last night. It seems that I attract friends who think of themselves as uplifters, movers and shakers of consciousness, those who are working toward the improvement of our little Ozark community, the local politics and global benefits for mankind as well.
Last night, however, I was greatly surprised by a couple of people who I regard as quite spiritually motivated in their political interests when they began talking derogatorily about the movie called “The Secret”.
What is “The Secret”?
This exciting movie exposes a concept that has been around since the beginning of man. When it was discovered how powerful it was, those in control tried to suppress it in order to maintain that control. Throughout history there have been great thinkers who have indicted this secret in their work and literature. In the early 1900's it began to appear more often in many business and success books. Again it was suppressed from the majority of the people.
This movie will teach you how to apply this information to your life to accomplish whatever it is that you desire.
“A number of exceptional men and women discovered The Secret, and went on to become known as the greatest people who ever lived. Among them: Plato, Leonardo, Galileo, Napoleon, Hugo, Beethoven, Lincoln, Edison, Einstein and Carnegie, to name but a few.
“Fragments of The Secret have been found in the oral traditions, in literature, in religions and philosophies throughout the centuries. For the first time, all the pieces of The Secret come together in an incredible revelation which will be life transforming for all who experience it.”
~ Excerpted from: http://www.thesecret.tv/home-synopsis.html
I think those last words say it all… “will be life transforming for all who experience it.” If you haven’t seen it yet, I strongly recommend it.
I'm sure you can imagine my shock, therefore, when these dear friends expressed dis-satisfaction with the concepts presented in this movie.
In contemplating this apparent contrast I realized that these friends have probably never tried the concepts presented in that film so they don't have personal experience to rely on. They are very active in political reform where they feel they have to push against the harm they see being done to our environment. They go to meetings where there are great numbers of people who are ‘against’ some injustice and they write proposals and letters to the editor attempting to stir people up in support of saving our natural resources by pushing hard against those who are apparently not.
The question that arises is … Does this really help?
How often do we see examples of someone who is outraged by some act of aggression? We see them pushing hard against this thing they do not want… only to find that because of their attention to it, they have activated this vibration, and they are now actually attracting more to push against in their lives.
“I was once asked why I don't participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I'll be there.”
~ Mother Teresa
Pushing against something does not offer a solution or an alternative approach, it only activates the same energy as that which is being pushed against.
So what’s the answer?
“All solutions have come from connected people flowing energy, not from people pushing against. Whatever cause you want to champion, the best way to make it happen is to envision it done, regularly and in great detail, when you are feeling good and connected to the stream. Then, if you are to DO something to make it happen, you will be inspired to action from your place of well-being, with the energy that creates worlds propelling you with inspiration.”
~ Abraham-Hicks
Instead of pushing against something Unwanted, decide what you’d rather have and then look for similarities and what you can get behind and ways to support what you Want, instead of what you Don’t Want.
Do you know what you want?
Do you want to push against unwanted things? Or would you rather go straight to the heart of the matter by spending your time looking for solutions that will produce the thing you want?
Which feels like the better choice?
During this watery month of Cancer we are learning to trust our Feelings. This influence of Assimilation reminds us to be careful about what we “take in”. If we are to follow the peaceful path then we must learn to check in with our feelings and be alert to Assimilate only what Feels right.
“As you perceive something, you give birth to a thought, and this thought now thinks. Now that it exists, now that it has been conjured, now that it has been focused, now it vibrates. Now, other thoughts that are vibrationally same will come to it. So it begins its expansion immediately.
“We promise you it is not in the looking at the worst of things that makes things improve. It's looking at the best of things.”
~ Abraham-Hicks
How do YOU decide what is worth Assimilating?
Do you trust your Feelings enough to let them guide your decisions?
It’s worth thinking about…

ON... AUTHENTICITY
The greatest social and familial pressure everyone experiences is to conform. We learn early in our life that if we want to get others to help us or cooperate with us, we need to do what pleases them. We also find that we get approval for how we are when we conform to others’ expectations of us.
By conforming to gain acceptance and approval, we pay a very dear price. We lose ourselves. We create a split within ourselves – a division between who we feel we are, and who we give the impression of being. Our self-image that we show others becomes our dominant self. But this self-image betrays our true self, and we suffer accordingly.
When we live on the outside, we are dependent on circumstances and others. When focused only outwardly, we are superficial and we do superficial things to try to satisfy our desire for fulfillment. Not finding what we are looking for, we go from one thing to another. It takes greater and greater stimulation to achieve some sense of being alive – more intense music, extreme sports, drugs, to name but a few.
The Soul Journey is a shift of perspective from outside to inside. Taking the Soul Journey is a voyage to authenticity, a return to our true self. The journey does not involve disowning our self-image, our negativity or the limitations of our personality. We acknowledge, explore and accept what we are in our personality, but we base our living and actions in the core of our being. We learn to go outside from the familiar place we have discovered within.
To be fully alive requires that we live from the source of life. This is within. Living with attention and presence to our innermost reality makes us independent and able to contribute in meaningful and fulfilling ways in all aspects of our life. We then know we are alive, and can direct our energies at will. Giving from our authentic self is not only fulfilling, but it is creative and empowering to others.
When we get caught up in conformity, neglecting the true self within, we are only semi-conscious. The truth is that we can only be as authentic as we are conscious, which means as we are soul-centered. And we are only authentic when we are soul-centered.
Exercises:
1. In what areas of your life do you habitually and consistently conform and why?
2. No one can be true to themselves unless they value themselves. How do you value yourself?
3. List the ongoing issues in your life that you are avoiding.

ASSIMILATION: QUOTES OF THE DAY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“As you make the decision: Nothing is more important than that I feel good - what begins to happen to you is, you begin to guide your thought, your every word, and your action. You guide your memory, you don’t say, "This is how I grew up and therefore I have to deal with it and dig it up every day and suffer over it." You say, There were things in my past that were unpleasant, but there were things in my past that were pleasant — I will choose those memories that feel pleasant. Or, There are things in my now that I have imagined into the future that are awful, or there are things that I imagine in the future that are wonderful — I will focus upon those that are wonderful. Be willing and happy to make the choice to choose the better thought. Make your journey about the improving the way you feel through the focus of your thoughts.”
~ Abraham-Hicks
“The capacity for hope is the most significant fact of life. It provides human beings with a sense of destination and the energy to get started.”
~ Norman Cousins (1912-1990) American Essayist and Editor, long associated with the Saturday Review.
“Notice how fast you think something these days and whoosh, there it is right in front of you. What you think and believe IS the invention of reality. In the new realm, this becomes glaringly obvious because we now exist in a fully creational space in which the perspective you choose to view things from actually creates the reality you live in. It's a next step in our conscious evolution - to understand the nature of sourceful reality creation.”
“Your hands are tied in action, but your hands are not tied in imagination - and everything springs forth from the imagination. Everything.”
“With the Creator in our lives, we are everything. Without the Creator, we are nothing. When the Creator is in our life, suddenly the impossible becomes possible. The extraordinary becomes ordinary. Things we thought could never happen start to happen. Talents we never know we had, start to blossom. Resources appear. Help arrives to give us guidance and direction. We become happy. We have peace of mind and confidence.”
~ Don Coyhis, Mohawk
“Do you know how to digest your food? Do you know how to fill your lungs with air? Do you know how to establish, regulate and direct the metabolism of your body - the Assimilation of foodstuff so that it builds muscles, bones and flesh? No, you don't know how consciously, but there is a wisdom within you that does know.”
~ Donald Curtis
“We have been taught to think that we will be happy when we are successful; this is reversing the way things should be for success. We must become happy first, and then we will naturally tend toward success.”
~ Father Eli (1916-1983)
“The Law of Attraction tells us that which is like unto itself is drawn. The Universe does not know if the vibration you are offering is because of what you are observing or visualizing. In either case, the Universe is matching it with things like it. So your work is to deliberately offer thought vibrations that are a Vibrational Match to what you want. The key for most of you will be to play up your visualizations and play down your observations.”
A DISTANT PERSPECTIVE
Benefits Of Detachment
Looking out the window while riding in an airplane lends a unique perspective. From high among the clouds, homes and highways appear tiny and toy-like. Suddenly, our crowded and important cities seem like just a small part of a busy universe. According to the Law of Yoga, one of the seven spiritual truths of Hinduism, we can also see our private lives from a new point of view by practicing detachment. By purposefully letting go of the end result of our actions and learning to watch our own thoughts and behavior impartially, we gain new insight into the diverse choices available to us. The goal of detachment is to be able to interact with the world while also watching ourselves, to be both actor and witness at the same time.
Those who renounce the desire for an award, according to the Bhagavad-Gita, attain perfect peace. Being overly focused on the outcome of an action actually ties one down, while being detached enough to view the relativity of the situation sets one free and lends tranquility. Being detached does not mean that one can't enjoy anything or anyone. It just refers to the fact that clinging very strongly to a person, a thought pattern or an emotional habit makes it difficult to cope with life. We begin to think that if we don't get a specific job or have a certain relationship, we will be miserable. Being detached means saying that if we achieve a certain goal, we will be fine and if for some reason we don't, we will still be fine. A Buddhist saying describes detachment as "Not flattered by praise, not hurt by blame."
Once we are able to detach ourselves from difficulty, we gain a broad perspective and a multiplicity of possibilities become apparent. Many solutions that we would never have considered when we were emotionally drowning in the problem now appear. When you are faced with a particularly trying personal problem, try taking some time to consciously detach yourself. Meditation, listening to calming music and taking a long walk are all possible detachment rituals. Traveling to another location either actually or through a favorite book or film are also good ways of finding a new perspective. When you let go of your limited view and gain greater objectivity, you put the law of Yoga into practice. You open the door to greater intuition and increased serenity.
Cancer: ‘I FEEL’
3rd Decan Influence: ‘ASSIMILATION’
July 13th – July 23rd
Cancer is mutable in its third decan for at the end, things are always phasing out and the new is felt. As you know, all the signs rule some part of the body and Cancer rules the stomach. The stomach assimilates. Assimilate means to "take in." Just as the stomach takes in our food, the Cancer person takes in also, taking others into his arms and into his heart. It is appropriate too that this follows sympathy, for only when we have taken others' feelings are we prepared to take them into our hearts. When we suffer with people it is then that we want to take them into our arms.
Cancer influences us to learn more about our Feelings. First to feel our own inner knowing: INTUITION; then to feel with others in SYMPATHY; and finally to take others' into our lives and thus ASSIMILATE them. This is brotherhood! This is sisterhood! It is this unity which the Wise people seek through their harmony with each other and the Gods. To be -- To have - To think - and finally to rise to our mental lives through our feelings and to take others, as our beloved brothers and sisters, into ourselves.
