I know I have only posted here a few times but I have had so little time to get on the computer and actually do what I want to do.

Religion is just getting so confusing for me. I was raised Christian by a family that likes to manipulate their faith to make them better than everyone else. I don't believe 95% of what I have always been taught, but I still feel this tie to some of it...I don't know...I feel like I'm just wrong because I believe half of two different religions...I believe in the Christian God, but I don't believe any of what is said about him in the religion. Yet I believe many of the Wiccan teachings, but feel like I am betraying both beliefs by having ties to both...I don't know if that makes sense but I hope someone understands...

Thank you both for your replies. They really help.

See, I believe there is a God, but I don't believe the Bible...I don't believe that a god that they speak of would be so cruel to his "children". I have found many mistakes in the Bible and in the Christian faith in general. I remember when I was a child I had everything figured out...I knew what I believed and I knew what was true...but then my mom slammed the bible in my face for personal gain..."Don't lie to me! The bible says not to lie! You should honor your mother...your father's a loser, anyway"...I used to feel like I had a sort of power...that I could feel the spirits of the trees and the grass, flowers, plants, etc...I could feel strength in the sun's rays and power in the moon's light that I couldn't put into words but just knew how to use it...I remember how I used to be one with the world and I just felt that I didn't have to be told but I just knew what was true...but then I started being influenced by my parents and I just want that peace back...I want the strength back...I remember communicating with "imaginary friends" that weren't imaginary and are actually still haunting me today but they didn't scare me then...I knew how to handle them...I had uses for every plant in the world...and every use seemed to work...But then I grew up and lost it all...I just wish I could remember what I knew then...I know it sounds like craziness...what did a 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 year old girl know? But I know it was real...and I want it back...I just don't know how...

Thank you both for your advice. I think I will try the journal and try communicating with my inner child. I know I sound completely clueless at times but it's just I am at the very beginning of a religious transition and I'm having trouble finding my footing on unfamiliar grounds. I've sifted through quite a bit of the information on this website, but if there are any other websites you know of that might offer information that could help, I'm willing to look at them. I have one book that I think is pretty interesting called "The Druid's herbal to the sacred new year," but I can't really afford any other books. I'm just exploring all that I can right now, trying to find something I am comfortable with and that I find to be true for myself.

That's all anyone can do is find their own truth. The truth for everyone is not the same. We are all still learning and exploring. Just listen inside and feel in your heart what is right for you. I had the same hard time because most of my family are Catholic but it just didn't feel right to me. I still believe in a power that is connected within each of us and every living thing. I guess I beleive in a mixture of magic and miracles but like you I don't believe in the bible. I believe that man wrote and rewrote it. I don't think the bible we have now is anywhere near the original.
So read but don't take everything as concrete fact because it is best if you do it your way after you have the basics. Finding your way and your path will not be easy but you will find it. Just remember to follow your heart and when you do, you will know it.
The people here are very nice and will give good advice. It is like a comfortable place to learn. I hope to be here for a long time and I hope you will too.

Every journey begins with your heart. Remember the knowledge of the ancients and keep it within your soul until you find the path to your truth.listen to the music.

I hope you find the meshing you need in your self.. I believe many htings from many religions. I take what I feel makes sense to me and apply it in my life.. I had an amazing great aunt that taught me when I was just little to never loose the gifts we are given as children when we are still open.. She was very into spirit guids nature etc.. I never forgot that, even when I was in search of religion, I went to church by myself as a small child, my family was not religious, my mom and I lived with her parents and her sib's and my gramp was a atheist, my gram had been taught by nuns in Canada, and had the scares to show for it.. But when I was tween my mother married a Christian man and found the way that works for her, and thus I was booked up with youth group's retriets, bible study etc.. I was not fond of having things forced upon me(very stubborn and willful) and I was out of the house at 17.. But I still taught my kids bible story's for there meaning, and as many other religion's as I have learned about.. It will be there choice when the need to make it comes what they take to fulfill them selves..

In my opinion the books we read are some one elses opinion and my Gramp had a saying about that.... "Opinions are like ass holes everyone has one and they all stink".. In other words he was telling me to think for myself.. His advice was always good advice.. Even if it was worded poorly..

I know this is kind of a broad question, but how did you get to where you just knew what was right for you? My fiance doesn't get why it bothers me that I don't know what I believe and keeps telling me that I'll have plenty of time to figure it all out, but it does bother me...I know it will take time for me to find peace of mind, but I just wish I knew that I was looking in the right places.

i think it takes time to really be comfortable and know for certain you are on the right path, and i think this comes with any belief. i think what is important is to follow your interests and stay true to yourself and what you want to project into the universe.

Awesome...I really love the thread so far...I haven't had too much time to really dedicate to it though, unfortunately. I have one book that I've been reading from before that's called "The Druid's Herbal to the Sacred Earth Year." It has quite a bit of information in it, as well, although it mostly speaks about Druidic history, the Earth Wheel, and the uses of a million different herbs both physically and magically...
